"Do you really think a 'dividend' like this is legal?"

Ella's eyes fell on the bank statements. Every single transaction was meticulously documented—the dates, the amounts, the routing numbers. It was all laid out in plain black and white.

She swayed on her feet, nearly collapsing onto the floor. Every drop of blood vanished from her face, leaving her sickly pale.

She knew this evidence was bulletproof.

Those were her signatures on the authorizations. She had executed the transfers herself. There was no way to spin this.

Desperation clawing at her throat, she looked at Alexander, practically begging. "Alexander, we're both business people. Let's leave some room for mercy."

"Let me go this once. I'll spit all the money back out, and I swear I will never bother you or Danielle ever again. Please!"

Alexander finally spoke, his voice low and dangerous. "You coming after me? I couldn't care less."

He paused, his gaze suddenly turning as sharp as a blade, dripping with lethal intent. "But you shouldn't have touched Danielle. And you especially shouldn't have gone after Niki."

Ella stiffened, all the fight draining out of her instantly. She slumped back into her chair.

She knew she had lost, completely and utterly.

The very second she decided to target his daughter, she had signed her own death warrant.

Alexander stood up, staring down at her. "Your biggest mistake, Ella, was crossing my bottom line."

Without giving her a second glance, he turned and headed for the door.

The police captain signaled his men. Several officers moved in, pulling out handcuffs to haul her away.

"Wait!" Ella suddenly screamed, staring fiercely at Alexander's retreating back. "You'll regret this, Alexander! Do you really think you've won? This game isn't over!"

Alexander paused, but he didn't look back.

His voice drifted over his shoulder. "The game ended the second you went near Niki."
