On the evening after the holidays, Charlene Ross and Stewart Ferguson attended a formal dinner they had been invited to.

"This is the first time you two will be at the same event since Dr. Lucas's gala. I imagine tonight's dinner will be quite the spectacle."

At most, people were just curious about the drama between her and Thorne. She would get a few extra stares, but she couldn't care less.

Arriving at the banquet hall, they had just exchanged pleasantries with the host when Dr. Lucas made his entrance.

Neither Charlene nor Stewart had expected the renowned scientist to attend.

Since the incident at the gala, they hadn't found a proper opportunity to apologize to him. Seeing him now, they wrapped up their conversation and walked over.

He saw them and nodded. "You two are here as well?"

"Yes," Charlene said, taking the lead. "I want to apologize again for what happened that night. I was hoping to take you out to dinner to make amends properly, but your assistant mentioned you were out of town on business, so we couldn't pin down a time..."

"Don't worry about it," Dr. Lucas waved it off. "It's all in the past."

He frowned slightly before adding, "Besides, someone else has already formally apologized on your behalf, so you don't need to stress over it."

As he spoke, he shot a displeased glance toward the entrance of the banquet hall.
