Nicholas' Adam's apple bobbed as he used all his strength to focus his gaze on Jocelyn. After confirming it was her, he raised his hand.

Unsure of what he was doing, Jocelyn leaned in to ask. "Mr. Rainsworth, are you all right? Are you in pain anywhere? Do you want some water? We'll be at the hospital soon."

Just as her last words fell, Nicholas' hand landed on her cheek.

He murmured hoarsely, "Jocelyn? Am I... dreaming?"

Jocelyn's face flushed, and she stared at him in disbelief, her body rigid.

Meanwhile, Yannick's face instantly darkened, and he raised his hand and slapped Nicholas' hand away. "Keep your hands to yourself."

Nicholas' hand dropped. Completely out of strength, he closed his eyes again.

Jocelyn turned to look at Yannick with a remorseful expression. "I'm sorry."

Yannick was deeply annoyed, but he didn't let it show. "He was the one who made a move on you. You don't need to apologize. We're leaving right after we drop him off at the hospital."

"Okay." Jocelyn nodded heavily, feeling increasingly thankful to Yannick.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the couple had Nicholas admitted.

Yannick paid the fees outside while Jocelyn stayed in the ward. Just as she was preparing to leave, her hand was suddenly grabbed by Nicholas, who was lying on the bed.

Nicholas' eyes were tightly shut as he mumbled groggily, "Don't go..."

Jocelyn's wrist, which he was holding, felt hot. She quickly tried to pry his hand off. "Mr. Rainsworth, are you awake?"

Jocelyn quickly left, closing the door behind her. Her mind was in chaos.

"Friends?" Nicholas was slightly surprised. When did I have two friends?

"Who were they?" he asked.

"One is named Jocelyn Wright, and the other is Yannick Hayes," the nurse answered.

The nurse knew their names because personal information needed to be recorded in the admission paperwork.

Nicholas' heart skipped a beat, and he remained silent for a long time.

Then, he asked, "And where are they now?"

"They left after finishing the admission procedures, saying they had things to do," the nurse replied.
