After sharing the villa’s location with Dorian, Lemira finally left the campus.

If Dorian actually went to see Evelina, there would probably be quite a scene—too bad she wouldn’t be there to watch it unfold.

Once Lemira arrived at Maple Group, she joined her colleagues to discuss upcoming technology upgrades and product improvements.

“The Langston Group even shot a commercial for it—it looks like something straight out of a romantic indie film. Are they really that desperate for people not to realize it’s all copied?” the team lead said, unable to hide his dissatisfaction.

Lemira glanced at the ad. It wasn’t finished yet; Evelina’s chin was still swollen, so there was no way they could film the next part for now.

She remarked coolly, “It’s all just window dressing. In the end, it’s the product’s quality that really matters.”

The team lead nodded in agreement and didn’t say anything further.

Later, Lemira stepped out to the restroom and overheard a couple of colleagues gossiping outside.

“I thought after what happened last time, the whole plagiarism scandal with the Langston Group would be exposed. But it’s like nothing ever happened—not a word anywhere.”

“You don’t get it—the Langston Group is still Lemira’s family’s company. There’s no way they’d actually let anything happen to it.”

“But I heard Lemira had a falling out with her family.”

“She may have, but her boyfriend is the heir to Orvin. If Lemira wants to move up in the world, she needs strong family backing. This is all part of her strategy—showing the Everhart family how hardworking and ambitious she is.”

After hearing this, Lemira finally understood why everyone in the earlier meeting seemed hesitant, as if there was something they wanted to say but couldn’t.

From their perspective, the whole situation did look suspicious.

But how could she possibly explain that this was only a temporary measure? Or that the Langston Group was actually on the verge of a major crisis?

Lemira acted as if she hadn’t heard anything and returned to her office to continue working.

At the end of the workday, the team lead approached her. “There’s an industry symposium at your university tomorrow. Since you’re both our tech lead and a student there, we’d like you to give a speech on behalf of the company.”

“Alright,” Lemira agreed without hesitation. This was the perfect opportunity to clear up all the rumors.

“Well, she’s going to have a long time to be jealous,” Lemira replied.

Lemira handed Oanice the speech she’d prepared for later, and Oanice squealed in excitement. “Lemira, you’re amazing! You’re going to put everyone in their place! Let them keep being jealous and spreading rumors!”

After stopping by her dorm, Lemira headed to the symposium right on time.

Oanice and Stella found seats, but the girl from registration came over again. “Hey, Lemira, you didn’t sign up, so there’s no seat for you here.”

“I know,” Lemira replied calmly.

She started toward the front, where she guessed her seat would be.

But the girl grabbed her arm, voice dripping with sarcasm. “Lemira, are you hoping to catch the eye of one of the rich CEOs today? Give me a break—have a little self-respect, will you? Don’t be so shameless!”

Lemira’s gaze went cold as she pushed the girl’s hand away.

Just then, the student council president walked over to Lemira. “Miss Lemira, you’re up soon. Are you ready for your speech?”
