After hanging up, Lemira turned back toward the lounge, only to find it empty.
What’s going on?
Just then, Timothy rushed in, looking anxious. “Lemira, the whole team is missing, and I can’t reach anyone.”
“Where did they go?”
“A staff member suddenly showed up and said there was an interview. Everyone went. I was in the restroom, but when I went to look for them, there was no one there.”
After hearing Timothy’s explanation, Lemira immediately guessed who was behind this.
She quickly called Sophia, who answered instantly. Sophia’s voice came through crisply, “Ms. Langston, if you’ve made up your mind, go straight to the main entrance. Someone will be there to pick you up.”
“Ms. Sinclair, you’re mistaken. I’ve already called the police. If the police get a hold of the recording of our conversation, who do you think they’ll suspect?” Lemira’s voice was cold. “Can the Sinclair family really handle another scandal right now?”
“Go ahead, call the police! You really think the authorities won’t find out what your family’s been up to?”
Sophia was fuming in her car. This Lemira was tougher than she expected.
How dare she stand up to me like this!
After hanging up, Lemira turned to Timothy. “I’m sorry, this situation is my fault—and it’s affecting your match.”
“Is this connected to the Sinclair family?”
Timothy had overheard Lemira mention Ms. Sinclair and had heard rumors about her tense relationship with the Sinclairs.
Lemira nodded. “I’ll take responsibility for this.”
“We’re not finished yet. The starting lineup’s gone, but the reserves are still here,” Timothy said, immediately calling the backup players over. “They were supposed to support us from the sidelines, but now they can compete. With you on the team, we still have a fighting chance.”
“Alright, let’s get down to planning.”
Just as Lemira and the reserves were preparing to go on, the original team members returned, one after another.
Why was the team’s coordination falling apart?
This isn’t right.
“Lemira, did you really think victory was in your grasp?”
Sophia suddenly appeared at Lemira’s side, wearing a smug smile. “I told you—if you’d just gone along with my people, none of this would have happened. But now, look at what you’ve done to them.”
Lemira watched as their team struggled on stage.
Her lips pressed into a thin, cold line. “Is this all the Sinclair family knows—cheap tricks like these?”
Sophia shot back angrily, “Why act so self-righteous? It’s nothing compared to the shady things your family does!”
At that moment, Sophia's hatred was palpable—she almost wanted to lash out at Lemira physically. “When I came to you before, you played innocent so well. Yet my mother was clearly kidnapped by your family!”
“You’re lashing out wildly like a mad dog—perhaps because you finally learned what your family really did all those years ago?” Lemira replied coolly, unwilling to continue circling around the topic with Sophia.
