Stella asked about their car, and Lemira recounted exactly what they did that afternoon.

Stella laughed so hard her stomach hurt. "My aunt spent a fortune on that landscaping. She's obsessed with that pristine, aesthetic lawn. Seeing you guys completely wreck it must have ruined her appetite for weeks."

Lemira laughed along. "It was all Orion's idea. He's the absolute worst."

Orion glanced up at Lemira, pressing his tongue against the inside of his cheek.

He was the worst?

She hadn't even seen his truly bad side yet. He was just holding back so he didn't terrify her.

After chatting, Stella yawned. "I'm going to turn in. I haven't slept at all."

"I'll help you make the bed."

Lemira went to the guest room with Stella.

Orion cleared the dining table, then sat on the sofa. His gaze drifted toward the guest room, listening to the girls laughing together.

He looked away after a moment.

Half an hour later, Lemira walked out.

She saw the man on the sofa and walked over. "She's asleep."

It was obvious Stella had been forcing herself to stay awake just to talk; the moment her head hit the pillow, she was out cold.

Orion lowered his voice. "Where are my clothes?"

"In my room. Follow me."

Lemira didn't think twice and headed into her bedroom.

Orion's gaze lingered for a second before he followed her inside.

Hearing the click of the door shutting behind him, Lemira turned around. The spacious bedroom suddenly felt suffocatingly small with him in it.

She looked down and handed him his clothes. "Here's your stuff."

But Orion didn't take them. He asked, "What did you call me earlier?"

Meeting those predatory, darkened eyes, Lemira took a step back. "Nothing."

"You said I was the worst. What exactly have I done to you to earn that?"

Orion stepped closer with every word.
