She rushed forward in a panic. "W-what are you doing here?"

Sophia's mind was racing frantically, trying to figure out exactly how much of that conversation Orion had just heard.

Orion's eyes were terrifyingly hollow. He bypassed Sophia entirely and stopped right in front of Amelia.

Amelia stumbled back two steps, guilt written all over her face. She stammered, "W-why are you here?"

"Are you disappointed to see me?" Orion asked, his voice dead flat.

"Don't be ridiculous, why would I be disappointed? I'm just a little surprised. How did you know we'd be here? Have you been having us followed?"

Amelia forced herself to meet his stare. "I found Evelina first. Even if you know about this, I'm asking you not to tell the Langstons, and especially not Lemira."

A cold, mocking smirk played on Orion's lips. "What makes you think I'd ever stoop to covering for you?"

"Because you're tied to this mess too! If Lemira finds out the truth, do you honestly think you two can stay together? She'd never forgive you—you're technically one of the reasons her parents are dead!"

Beside them, Evelina's eyes practically bulged out of her skull.

No wonder the Everhart heir was treating Lemira like absolute royalty. It was all connected to that old car crash.

Orion was only showering Lemira with affection out of sheer, overwhelming guilt.

Orion's expression instantly darkened as he shot a lethal glare at Evelina.
