Chapter overview: Chapter 955 from When They Beg I Rise (Lemira)
In this standout chapter of the Romance novel When They Beg I Rise (Lemira), Giselle Jones introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.
In Orion's eyes, the Langston family had long surrendered any right to make decisions on Lemira's behalf.
Thaddeus glanced at him. "Technically, the lawsuit is between the Langstons and the Sinclairs. And Lemira is still a Langston."
Orion set his phone face down on the table. "Contact Lemira directly. Her family doesn't get to dictate these terms."
No one knew better than Orion just how unreliable the Langston brothers truly were.
"Then why don't you contact her yourself?" Thaddeus shot back. "You're jumping through hoops to buy her a multimillion-dollar supercar in secret. Since when did you have the potential to be such a massive sucker?"
Orion offered a bleak, self-deprecating smile. "I have no other way to reach her right now. If throwing money at the problem could actually fix it, I wouldn't be sitting here tearing my hair out."
Thaddeus knew Lemira's temper well; she was incredibly headstrong.
"Look, if Lemira absolutely refuses to let Mr. Alfred represent her, it's going to be a disaster. Finding another lawyer willing to withstand the sheer pressure of taking on the Sinclair family won't be easy. They have deep roots and serious power in Orvin. Your average attorney will take one look at this case and run for the hills."
"Doesn't Mr. Alfred have an apprentice?" Orion asked quietly. "Have him take the case."
Orion knew Lemira would never trust him again, which meant she would automatically reject any lawyer he openly endorsed.
Thaddeus stared at him in disbelief. "Are you out of your mind? You want Alfred's apprentice to represent the prosecution, while Alfred himself defends the Everharts? Who do you think is going to win that matchup? Lemon isn't stupid."
"His apprentice isn't like that. In fact, he'll cherish the opportunity to finally go head-to-head with his old master in court."
Orion wasn't pulling this idea out of thin air. He had his reasons.
Thaddeus raised an eyebrow, considering it. "Fair point. Looking around, aside from Alfred's protégé, there isn't a single lawyer in the city qualified to go toe-to-toe with the old man anyway."
"Then it's settled. Make the arrangements," Orion ordered.
"Why don't you do it?"
"If I do it, she'll reject him out of principle. Find a way to make it seem organic so she accepts him on her own terms. We can't let the Langstons assign her some incompetent hack."
Thaddeus nodded. "Got it. Leave it to me."
This was exactly what best friends were for. Unlike that opportunist Caleb, who used a crisis to extort a supercar out of Orion.
Meanwhile, Lemira's joyride in the convertible had been exhilarating, but the freezing autumn wind had significantly worsened her cold.
