Marshall and Mayor—the Ash Twins.
Blayne had told me about them months back, and since then, they'd been a persistent itch. They'd been one of the people that'd been difficult to find. Plus I hadn't been hunting them aggressively since I found Rali; she'd taken priority over my entire existence.
Now they followed her here. I had a good feeling they didn't know she was here. Marshall—the twin she'd seen—probably didn't even see her last night, and that was good news, because I was sure he was still around somewhere.

RALI
'I'll find them, Rali. And you'll see I was right about keeping you safe.'
I'd doubted those very words two days ago. So staring at the two mugshots in front of me felt like someone had unplugged me from reality.
"Ma'am? Are those the men?" The cop repeated gently.
My lips hadn't closed yet from the shock, my eyebrows creased with surprise. I looked from the two cops to Dominic who was leaning by the wall close to the door.
"How?" The word sounded weak, like it had fought its way through shock.
"Well, all thanks to your friend here and the identification you made, we were able to track both brothers and currently have them in custody. Right now, we're working on capturing all their partners and alliances. I assure you, ma'am, there's nothing to be afraid of. We'll get every single one of those ratbags with time."
I shook my head, trying to dislodge the shock clinging to my thoughts. Marshall and Mayor in custody within two days? How did I get so lucky?
I stared intently at the mugshots. They looked real. My biggest demons had been captured.
"W—Will they remain here in Torontea?" I asked.
"Not at all. By tomorrow or so, they should be transported to their hometown where they'll face prosecution."
I rubbed my hands against my arms. There were goosebumps on me. God, this felt unreal.
I looked at Dominic who had been quiet and staring at me the whole time. For the past two days he's been a little...strange. Too quiet. Angry, even. I didn't expect my situation to get to him this much.
The officers discussed assigning a permanent guard to me. A civilian-dressed protection detail, someone who'd be invisible to everyone else but always shadowing me.
I didn't try to object when the offer came up. God knew I needed that right now more than anything.
I thanked them for their help before they left.
It was just Dominic and I left in Marovelle's living room.
I closed the door slower than necessary, like my brain needed extra time to process what had just happened.
"You okay?" Dominic asked, his tone a little softer now.
He was still leaning on the wall, his hands tucked into the pockets of his jacket.
"Yeah."
