Faced with Jack's intimidating presence, Peter suddenly remembered how badly things had gone for him in their past clashes. His expression darkened at once.

Peter said through gritted teeth, "Fine. Just you wait. Once Mr. Cadwallader takes office, your precious Lycan family won't have much to smile about. When your family falls from grace, let's see how well you handle it. You illegit—you bastard. I'll deal with you!"

He stopped himself just in time. He had been about to hurl another insult, but the sharp glint in Jack's eyes made him swallow the words.

Jack replied with a cold smirk. "Anytime. I'm just afraid a fool like you is incapable."

Peter snapped, "Oh, we'll see about that! Don't go thinking the Lycan family is untouchable. Time will tell whether you're really powerful or just putting on a show. Your good days are numbered."

There was no going back now. The feud between them had reached a breaking point.

Jack didn't bother replying as he thought Peter's threats weren't even worth acknowledging.

If Peter didn't walk away soon, Jack wouldn't mind slapping him a few more times.

Peter was fearful of Jack. When Jack casually raised a hand, Peter flinched, his face paling. He shot Jack one last hateful look, then turned and left.

Not far away, Wilhelmina saw the confrontation between Jack and Peter. As she recalled what had happened earlier in the secluded area, a slight frown appeared on her face. It was hard to tell what she was thinking.

Soon after, the banquet drew to a close. All in all, it hadn't been a particularly enjoyable evening.

Jack hadn't gotten what he wanted from Wilhelmina, and the public conflict with Peter only stirred up more trouble. In the end, there was little for him to gain.

However, Quintis left feeling even more frustrated. Regardless of whether the Sandalwood Group had engaged in tax evasion or other irregularities, what happened tonight would inevitably spread.
