"What are you talking about?" Jack asked, feigning ignorance.
"Hmph! A real man would take responsibility for his actions. You still want to deny what you were doing?"
Charlotte sat up in a huff. She pointed at Jack's book and said, "Look at you. You haven't even turned a single page! Did you enjoy yourself when you stared at me? Do you want to take another look?"
Jack felt beyond awkward.
Charlotte placed her book down and made her way over to him. She stared at him before saying, "Tell me, you pervert. Now that I've caught you red-handed, how should I punish you?"
Aggression rolled off of her in waves.
Jack wanted to defend himself, but he had indeed been caught red-handed, so he had no idea where to start. It looked as if Charlotte was about to make her next move before she suddenly collapsed to the floor, the strength fleeing from her legs.
Jack was momentarily stunned. "Charlotte, what's wrong?" he asked.
He quickly moved to pick Charlotte up, wanting to check what was wrong with her. But she waved her hand weakly before saying, "I'm feeling a little under the weather. Help me up to the couch."
Jack hastily did as he was told, attempting to help her up. However, after realizing that she had lost all the strength in her body and had essentially turned into a boneless puddle of goo, Jack decided to wrap one arm around her waist while he supported her neck with his other hand.
Charlotte's spaghetti-strapped top was simply too small and too alluring. When he wrapped his arm around her waist, he couldn't avoid making direct contact with her bare skin.
Although he was only touching her waist, he was keenly aware of the velvet sensation beneath his fingertips. Coupled with the sweet fragrance that wafted from her body, it was more than enough to send Jack's heart racing wildly in his chest.
Being able to hold Charlotte close to him was already incredibly enjoyable to him.
"What happened to you? Are you feeling a little better?" Jack asked, concern lacing his tone.
"I was running a fever earlier," Charlotte explained. "I wouldn't be waiting around for you at home if it wasn't for that!"
Noticing Jack's hesitation, Charlotte frowned. "Why are you so slow? You just have to help me drink the water."
Since Charlotte didn't seem to mind, Jack saw no reason to deny her his help. He carefully moved Charlotte into a sitting position with the intention to help her lean back against the couch, but Charlotte shook her head.
"Not like that. It's uncomfortable."
"How do you want to sit then?" Jack asked, a little helplessly.
"Let me rest against your chest." Charlotte blinked her eyes at him. "That would be more comfortable."
Jack felt a little conflicted upon hearing her request, but considering the weak state she was in, he still guided her gently to lean against his chest. He then fed her the water, helping her to take small sips before feeding her the medication.
Throughout the entire process, Charlotte's soft skin was pressed against Jack. The faint fragrance that wafted from her body made his heart hammer in his chest.
