Jack tried to calm his nerves, afraid Charlotte would notice something.

After taking the medication, Charlotte's face regained its color. She lazily stretched, feeling much better than before.

Jack asked with concern, "Do you feel better?"

"Much better." Charlotte blinked her doll-like eyes. She smiled and asked, "Do you like hugging me?"

Jack's heart tightened at the unexpected question. Frankly, it felt great, but Jack couldn't admit it.

So, Jack replied, "I was focused on feeding you the medication. I didn't think much about it."

"Really? You looked like you were enjoying yourself." Charlotte looked at Jack with a mischievous sparkle in her eyes. "Frankly, it's quite comfortable lying in your arms. Why don't I lie on your lap and read a book? Is that okay?"

Jack was caught off guard by her question. "Aren't you afraid that your father will see us? What if he gets the wrong idea?"

Plus, Charlotte was cheeky and might have some tricks up her sleeve. Jack had experienced that before, so he had to be extra careful.

"Do we still need to prove our innocence? You already have naughty thoughts toward me."

Charlotte recalled how Jack made a move on her the last time, and her face flushed slightly. Her tone sounded strained as if she were speaking through gritted teeth.

Jack was silenced by Charlotte's retort. After all, the truth was clear as day. He had no comeback.

Charlotte was secretly delighted at how defeated Jack was.

She said, "Okay, I won't make things difficult for you. If my father comes back, we'll hear him from the study. We have ample time to move away from each other. Plus, as long as you don't have other things in mind while I lie on your lap, we'll be fine."

"There's no such thing as a cat that doesn't steal fish. Besides, I like you, and from how you looked at me earlier, you like me too. How about we just get together?

"If you can't let go of your girlfriend, I can be your secret love. We'll keep it under wraps. It'll just be our dirty little secret."

With her languid posture, subtle touches, and suggestive gaze, Jack's defenses began to waver.

"What are you talking about? If you have so much free time, find someone else to bother." Jack intentionally pulled a long face, trying to hide the inappropriate thoughts running through his mind.

Charlotte saw what happened and burst into laughter.

"Alright. You got me. I just wanted to see if you really had any inappropriate thoughts about me and catch you in the act. Then, I'll have proof to show your girlfriend what kind of guy you really are. Don't turn into a scumbag, or I'll be the one to obliterate you in the name of justice."

It turned out Charlotte was testing him all along.
