"Where are we going Logan?" I asked him as he started going down a dirt path into the forest. "You're not planning on murdering me, right?"
That made Logan stop and he looked at me with a curious glint. "Now why would I want to murder you?"
"I dunno, you are just leading me into the woods at night and that was the first thing that popped into my head," I said with a shrug.
"I'm not going to murder you, just... just follow me," Logan assured me in a quiet voice.
And I did. I followed my mate down the worn dirt path and the sky started to get darker and the stars started to sparkle across the sky. That's when I started to notice the area around us started to glow. I looked forward and saw the path was lined with little lanterns and flowers.
I gave Logan a sideways look. He was wearing a smile, but continued to look forward. We kept going and I was growing more and more nervous. We finally made it to a small clearing and I couldn't help but gasp.
Most of the trees surrounding the area were wrapped in white lights and the small lanterns continued out into the middle of the clearing forming a small circle. It was simple but beautiful. I was stunned to silence as Logan tightened his grip on my hand and led me to the middle.
Finally when we were in the middle I looked at all the lights. "You must've used a lot of extension cords."
Logan chuckled and looked into my eyes, not saying anything about my comment. His golden eyes captivated me and I couldn't look away. When he started talking, he didn't look away, not for a second.
"Max, you are truly one of a kind. You are different, obviously in a good way, and I am so fucking happy I can call you my mate. You've been through so much and you stayed with me and let me try and help you. You are so strong and you seem invincible, but I know truly you were lost and looking for meaning and I really hope I brought that to you. You are the toughest, yet most gentlest person I know and I promise you I will do everything to make sure nothing else ever hurts you again."
At this point Logan was taking something out of his pocket and stepping back from me. He got down on one knee and looked up at me. My hands were covering my mouth, but that didn't stop me.
"No. No, no, no. Get up. Nope."
"Calm down and let me finish," Logan said with a smile.
He took out a small box and opened it. The ring was just a simple band that was twisted in what looked like a rope. I looked away from the ring and to Logan, waiting for him to finish what he was going to.
"And I promise I will marry you one day."
I stood there stunned and Logan stood up and slipped the small ring onto my left ring finger and kissed me. I pulled away from him and wrapped my arms around his waist and rested my head on his chest.
"Who set all of this up?" I asked him.
"Micah and Alia," he said sheepishly.
