Isabella replied to Lawrence with a quick thank you.
She knew exactly how much Natalie despised her. After all, she’d handed those anonymous photos straight to Jordan. There was no way he’d just ignore them. He’d definitely go to Natalie for answers. And, knowing him, he’d tell her that Isabella was the one who brought the photos in the first place. That was pretty much guaranteed to make Natalie hate her even more.
But honestly, did it matter? Natalie already hated her whether she did anything or not. So what if she hated her a little more? It wasn’t as if Isabella wanted to see Natalie happy, especially after everything that happened. Natalie might have lost Ethan’s love but she still had Jordan. Isabella wanted to see that change too. She wanted Jordan to walk away so that Natalie would finally lose the two men who used to love her the most. Then she’d know what it felt like to have nothing at all.
Lawrence messaged her again, “Isabella, if you have time, you should go visit Ethan. Seeing you could help him recover faster. When he’s in a good mood, he heals quicker.”
Isabella sent him a voice reply, “Ethan and I are divorced. I’m with Harold now. I don’t want to make things awkward for him.”
Lawrence answered, “It’s just a habit. I’ll work on it.”
He knew this kind of advice didn’t help Isabella’s situation. Even though she hadn’t gotten back together with Ethan—she’d even turned him down when he tried—everyone just wanted her to be happy, even if her happiness was with Harold.
Harold used to be Ethan’s good friend. The Adams family was close with Harold and Jesse too. There was a brotherly connection there, something real. They actually hoped Isabella would find more happiness with Harold than she ever did with Ethan.
As for Ethan, he only had himself to blame for losing Isabella. Just because he finally realized his mistake didn’t mean anyone could forget what really happened.
Lawrence added, “If you ever need anything, ask us for help. If it’s something we can do, we’ll help, no questions asked. You may not be coming back to Ethan, but you’ll always be family to us.”
Isabella couldn’t help but smile. The Adams men—at least, all except Ethan—were actually pretty great. She sent back, “If I ever need the Adams family, I promise I won't be shy about asking.”
