Isabella offered a soft smile. "I'm more worried about you overthinking."

"Harold, I'm never getting back together with Ethan, I promise."

Harold chuckled. "I know. I trust you!"

Isabella grabbed her purse, leaned over, and placed a gentle kiss on his cheek. "Goodnight, Harold."

"Goodnight."

He wanted to pull her in for a real kiss, but she had already opened the door and stepped out, leaving him to simply wish her goodnight.

"I'll wait until you're inside."

Isabella pulled out her keys to unlock the gate, opting not to ring the doorbell.

"Just go," she urged, turning back to him. "It's late."

She closed the heavy iron gate, shooing him off.

Isabella locked the gate and walked up the driveway to the main house.

Before she even reached the door, the lights flicked on. She knew her mother was awake and had come downstairs.
