SCARLET

After the family dinner, I went straight to the bathroom to get a bath. I filled the bathtub with milk water and soaked my body.

I put my earphones on and scrolled to my list, and played Lovely by Billie Eilish, then I scrolled through my apps and clicked the Pro-Express app. I'd received messages from other users, asking questions about programs and codes. I scrolled down and found Jax's old messages.

I opened one of Jax's messages. It was the first message he sent me. I knew he was different from the other users from the very start. He was smart. He knew everything I was asking. I giggled at the thought that he's just right outside the door. Fate could be a little playful.

I put my phone aside, then closed my eyes. I was still worried about my parents being here. At least the bath was soothing. It somehow relieves the tension.

I felt a movement in the water. I realized I had fallen asleep and forced my eyes to open.

"Luke," I moaned his name when I saw his beautiful face and his bare pectorals. He settled in the tub across from me.

"Shh, it's okay," he hushed and held my foot and started massaging it.

"Hmm…" I bit my lower lip with slight pleasure.

"Feel good?"

I nodded with a hum. "Our parents?"

"Sleeping? I don't know."

"We should be more careful."

"I locked the door."

I smirked. "Excuse me, you came into my bathroom. What if they saw you?"

He chuckled playfully. "Don't worry. They're not home anyway."

"Is there trouble with AT?" I asked. Thomas wasn't the kind of person who visits his children just because he wanted to. I realized that since he married Mom unless there's a business involved.

"Why do you ask?"

"Well, they are here."

"You figured that out, huh?" He smirked sexily. "That's Dad."

"What do you think…" I paused. "What if Thomas found out about us? Do you think he will disown me? Or divorce Mom?"

His eyes darkened. "I would never let it happen. He won't find out."

"I'm just saying what if."

He cleared his throat. "He's going to disown me."

I shook my head. "You're his son. He won't do that to you."

"No, seriously. I've never seen him so happy until he married Gene. He won't do that to her, and he won't find out."

I guess I was just going to trust him for now.

"Let's stop this conversation and enjoy the night."

Luke emerged from the water and positioned himself on top of me, only for me to find he was almost completely undressed, displaying his thick, hard erection in his underwear. Then his hand moved and gripped my thigh.

I shut my eyes and sucked in a breath when he lowered himself and began kissing my neck.

"Ahh…"

His mouth trailed down my collarbone to my breast, and without warning, he sucked my nipple and swirled his tongue.

"Luke…" I gasped.

He went on relentlessly, driving me crazy when he stopped to move to my other crown. I held on to his head and clenched a fistful of his hair.

I'd imagine myself in this particular scenario with Luke multiple times over the past year – my gorgeous stepbrother spreading me, and I the willing woman who catered to his needs. His gray eyes coaxed me to my deepest desire, our bodies entwined, but those fantasies could never compare to the reality.

I clutched the edge of the bathtub as I felt my orgasm overtake me, my muscles tightening, my core clenching. Before I could fall forward on the water, he caught me. I shut my eyes and leaned back against him as we caught our breaths. His hands around my waist. His lips gently kissing my shoulders.

After several minutes of silence, he spoke, "Are you going to tell me what happened with your friend at least?"

LUKE

I had let Scarlet slip deeper into my life. I was coming back little by little to my former self, the one who was always thoughtful with other people. It was frightening.

In a short amount of time, I'd grown fond of her. It was another problem I couldn't stop. She was always on my mind. I tried preventing myself from thinking about her too much, but it just wouldn't work. I wanted to believe her, but somehow, I couldn't. Women were natural-born liars.

I began realizing that she'd got me when she was wrapped in a friend's arms. I sensed from the very start that he had a thing for Scarlet by the way he looked at her. Scarlet didn't seem to know her friend was lusting after her. I was sure of that. I couldn't be wrong.

Again, I wanted to believe that she's telling the truth about her friend. That it was nothing like I saw because she already had me. I wanted to believe that she was just like me—a person who had a past she couldn't share with anyone.

But I would make sure that what I felt for her wouldn't extend too much. I wanted her. I wanted to fuck her more. That's all. End of the story.

For my own sake, I had to have a stone heart, but it didn't mean I don't want to know more about her. She was like a puzzle, and I was eager to know her better.

"Simple. He didn't want me to come here with you," I said.

"Why not?"

"You won't imagine how much pain I went through in the past. Mom doesn't know a thing. Only Nate and Katherine and he was always there to help me—to save me in between life and death situations. So you can't blame me if I still want to save our friendship."

"But he likes you more than a friend, and he's your best friend's boyfriend." I shook my head in disbelief. That fucking bastard had luck on his side.

"Not anymore—I mean, he did tell me he had feelings for me before Katherine, but that's all in the past."

"And knowing this, you let him hold you?"

"It's not like that." She faced me and looked into my eyes. "We're friends. Nate won't betray Katherine."

Of course, deep inside, I wanted to believe her. Those beautiful eyes had no hint of lies. But there was something more to it. Something she wouldn't tell me.
