Chapter 1733: Town Level 2 Upgrade Mob

The territory itself was moving too quickly. As the Lord, she could not be too far behind.

The fact was that—considering the enemies they had—leveling up on her own was not a practical use of her time, especially when the entire territory was moving so quickly.

At the time, it was better to increase the overall strength of the territory if she wanted to minimize casualties during wars and mobs.

She was only one person after all, how much could she handle by herself? Compared to thousands getting stronger and getting more kills, how much could one person—with limited mana and spirit—do in the entire context of a war?

However, after so long, she knew that she had to invest more of her time in her own strength (which was possible with the various experts that joined her side). Upgrading to Level 2 so quickly wasn’t part of her plans (things like prestige were too difficult to calculate), but she might as well take advantage of it.

For example, one reason why she had limited progress was that killing the right leveled monsters took time, and they had to scour outside the territory for efficiency.

If she fought against too-strong a monster, it would take her too long to finish them off, and the associated experience points weren’t worth the effort by proportion. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

On the other hand, the monster being too weak might not give her any experience at all.

Her time...it was too precious. The time that she spent on finding monsters that’d give her experience could have been used for her various research projects instead.

Now, with mobs of all levels approaching her, wasn’t it just the best period to hunt?

She looked at the beast mob approaching and, as predicted, passed through the ’opening’ they left behind.

They had built the Level 7 wall around most of the perimeter, leaving about two hundred meters of unwalled easements outside, and also leaving a few hundred meter arc unbuilt, placed directly in front and parallel to the current gates.

This way, the monsters would be funneling through this area, making them easier to target.

Speaking of the wall... it was really not cheap.

When her inner circle heard about the total cost, they looked like they had lost blood on their faces.

The resources of wood and stone in the ’resource warehouse’, as well as the stocks, were also consumed, with a massive bulk buying from the citizens right the next morning to refill it a bit for rebuilding if the wall got damaged later.

Many people even had to go outside the existing level 5 walls, making sure they could gather as much as they could before the beasts appeared.

The cost for the Level 7 walls was 2 wood, 1 stone, and 5 gold per meter, which was more than three times the cost for Level 5 walls back then.

On the other hand, the cost for Level 7 sentries was 200 wood, 100 stone, and 100 gold per tower.

She didn’t expand to the edge and left a few hundred meters blank, which still left her with more than twenty thousand meters of perimeter to wall.

With the easement, the remaining perimeter was around 23 kilometers.

Level 7 sentries had three hundred meter range, so he’d need more than 80 sets to fill up the wall perimeters.

In total, for the walls, 46 000 wood, 23 000 stone, 115 000 gold.

For sentries, she needed to build more than a hundred, including the ’loose’ sentries in between the two outer walls. That cost her 20 000 wood, 10 000 stone, and 10 000 gold.

This number was something even Lords might not see in a lifetime.

Building these up, not even including the rest of the construction she’d need to do soon, she was left with the following stats:

ROAAAAARRR!

She had first encountered this in the Training Hall, but not in real life, and according to their growing index of monsters, this monster appeared more north of Flaret.

These specific monsters appearing here, in mobs, meant that a lot of these monsters traveled a great distance just to attack Alterra.

How these monsters even knew exactly where to go, passing by the dozens of territories on their path, they did not know. All they knew was that each upgrade was destined for some tribulation to show they could handle the territory.

If her territory wasn’t attacked, perhaps she’d have the mind to think and explore this more.

That said, she hoped the villages in the direct paths were fine. While the monsters seemed to have a honing mechanism in their heads to find the exact upgrading territory, it only meant they wouldn’t detract from the path.

However, the territories directly in their paths would not be exempt from their bloodlust. They’d definitely attack them if they were along the way, anyway.

The only good news was that this world was so vast. For monsters far away, they were far less likely to encounter collateral damage like this than just going through open forests the entire time.

Still, just in case, Alterra had sent news about the upcoming beast tide when they started preparing here, too.

Hopefully, the beasts were dispersed enough in approaching this spot and that the allied villages would be able to handle the threats.

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Well, there was no need to worry about others. Rather, there was no time to.

At least at this moment, what she could do was concentrate on her own growth.
