In this standout chapter of the Internet novel Alpha Kian And His Captive Mate, shilps introduces new challenges, powerful emotions, and major plot progress that captivate readers from beginning to end.
"Why do you need these? They are covering half your face." He took the sunglasses off my face and asked Olivia to leave.
"I have conjunctivitis. Give them back and don't look at me." I turned my face away, only to look at him in the next second when he squeezed my jaw and pulled me closer.
His wolf was asking him to give me a good spanking for not wearing the dress he wanted me to. I tried to conceal my surprise at how both Kian and Rex were such rascals. Wyatt's wolf would never suggest something like that.
"Whatever you used to make it pink probably didn't work. Which eye was it supposed to be?" He burst out laughing while my heart rate spiked up.
"What?" My eye looks normal after all that pain with those grapes and stains?
"I'm glad you hid those glowing eyes but I know already." He said in the lowest possible whisper while wrapping his arm around my waist and dragging me away from his folks.
"Y-you know? A- um, about my... my---"
Did Wyatt already tell him during their Alpha meeting? Although Kian swore in only today, he was already in charge of traveling to far off places and attending such meetings.
"Leah's eyes also used to glow sometimes. Like the first time when she saw me. She had grey eyes, but I saw a subtle gold in them during the mating ceremony as well. They were not as bright gold like yours but only I could see them."
"Oh..." Dude, you are wrong. Everyone can see them in my case. It's not some special look I got only for you. Didn't know I was staring at him until a sexy smirk formed on his face.
"So, you didn't like the other dress?"
"Nope." I looked at a distant vintage lamp hanging down from a tree.
"Well, this shade of red is my favorite on my women." He played with the loose strands of my hair that came out of the bun.
"Your women?" I swatted him over his wrist and pushed his hand away.
"I thought you liked purple. But if you are so stubborn about not wearing something I buy, let me tell you, I bought this dress too."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did. From Hermès." He leaned against the wall and all I could think about was to lean into him and wrap my arms around him.
"Er... how did you know purple is my favorite color?"
"You wear a lot of purple bras even when your closet has many other options."
"I don't need an excuse to kill you. I would have if I could by now."
I walked back to where the food was and dumped a huge scoop of cheesecake onto my plate while ignoring my fluttering heart.
"Ooh! A chocolate Oreo mudslide cheesecake! That's my favorite too." I heard a petite girl dressed in a cute pastel green gown smile at me warmly.
I looked at my plate to notice what I got. This is the worst kind of dessert I should be eating when I'm trying to not put on any more weight. It tasted too good to stop eating though. I rather eat this sinful, artery-clogging poison than let Kian come near me. Someone please give me a choice and let me pick this cheesecake over him.
"I'm Rachel." I heard the girl say and realized she was still standing next to me.
"Er... Riley. Nice to meet you."
"You are very beautiful, Riley. My brother seems to like you."
"Ki... the Alpha? Alpha Kian is your brother?"
I expected her to look more or less like Adalyn; tall, arrogant, and athletic. She looked very young. With porcelain skin, copper hair, and hazel eyes, she had nothing in common with Kian. She looked so cute and mellow, to add more to the contrast.
