I was in math class with my horrid teacher Mrs. Peavey. I swear she was out to get me. She hated everyone, except the popular kids.
"I asked you to solve the equation. It's simple pre-algebra or do you need to go back to 8th grade?"
The whole class snickers but I ignore them and look up at the equation.
9+(-24) x 7^2 + 35 - 102= z
I smile it was easy.
" Negative 102."
Mrs. Peavey raises an eyebrow and moves on to the next unsuspecting kid who wasn't paying attention. The bell rang about ten minutes later and I did a mental happy dance.
I run through the hall to my favorite class- choir. Mrs. Hopkins was my teacher and she was amazing. She was a funny woman that had been teaching for years, we all loved her.
I sit my stuff in a cubby hole and get out my sheet music.
"Hayes! Are you going to choir camp this year?" Mrs. Hopkins asks.
"Yes! I wouldn't miss it for the world."
She smiles and nods,"Thats what I like to hear!"
I laugh as she walks off to condemn the tardy kids to detention. I sigh and start working on my warm ups.
~Lunch~
I walk into the lunch room and get in line. Our cafeteria was huge. We actually had mini restaurants, like McDonalds, Taco Bell. You could get anything. I immediately run to the McDonalds line since it was small.
Soon I get my order of a quarter pounder, large fries, a large sweet tea, and a small McFlurry. I spot my gaggle of friends at our usual table and speed walk to my destination. Setting down my tray I take a seat beside Marianna-Jay.
"Hey Lake! How's it going?" Tina asks. from the other side of Marianna-Jay.
"Good what about you?" I reply back.
She smiles and says she was good.
I look around at all my friends. Marianna-Jay, Kassy, Tina, Joey, Graham, Ben, Heath, Sarah, and Carly.
We were all a tight knit group of friends. I had a feeling quite a few of them would be mates.
Here was my mate chart in my head. Marianna-Jay and Heath, Tina and Joey, Graham and Sarah, and then Ben and Carly. Kassy of course we were all positive her and my brother were mates.
The only one missing was my mate. I sighed unhappily, I was tired of waiting. Why couldn't I shift now and then I could be with him. I couldn't wait to kiss him, marry him, mark him, make love to him. I know I wanted our love to start up fast so we could start our lives and I hoped he did too.
We all finished eating and walked out just as the bell rang. Great two more horrid periods to go.
~ Later that Day~
It was 4:00 when I got home from school. I sat my bags in my bedroom and then went to the kitchen to grab a snack.
"Laken hurry! Get ready quick the Alpha's son is coming home early you have to hurry!"
It all stopped so suddenly as well as my screaming. I look around- everything was clearer. I could see the bugs crawling up the tree bark, the water droplets falling from the leaves, and the ants scampering back to there little kingdom. This world was so much more beautiful.
'It sure does doesn't it?'
'Wait are you my wolf?'
'Duh silly! My name is Snow.'
'Oh cool I'm-'
'Yes I know your Laken!'
I giggle but it comes it as a snort. Well that was unexpected.
'Let's run!'
'Okay! wait- how?'
She sighs, 'you put one foot in front of the other and keep doing that but faster.'
Well wasn't she a smart-a-lic?
I start running, which was pretty easy, and it was exhilarating. The wind was whooshing through my fur and past my ears. I had never had so much fun.
'Laken it's time to come back home; The Alpha will be here any minute.'
