"I want to do something for the person I like. Will you help me?" He asked the shy deer.
The animal understood him, but could the man understand his kind?
"I want to." The deer spoke to see if the man was bluffing or for real.
"That's great then! You're so cute!" Hu Jiayi picked up the small deer, much to the animal's shock.
"Why are you picking me up?!" The deer whined as he preferred to walk on his legs.
Despite being small, he had quite a loud voice.
Hu Jiayi ignored his complaints as he carried the young deer away to help him.
"A dream which someone wants you to see..." Yuyan tilted her head. Eyes looking at the ceiling, she thought why anyone would want to do that.
"I'm not sure what the person's intentions are but from my knowledge, no one entered my room last night. If they're able to cast it without being in the presence of the victim, it has to be someone of great power."
Wu Xingxie narrowed her eyes, her lips pursed.
"We'll have to take precautions. Follow me."
Yuyan had no idea what the Eldest Miss was going to do but complied. She walked behind the female who took them outside the room.
Wu Xingxie's chamber was very large. It had multiple buildings but most of the other surroundings were a grassy field.
Standing on the grass, Wu Xingxie moved her head to the sky, looking at the clouds.
Yuyan stood a few feet back, thinking to herself.
What is Eldest Miss doing?
As she thought this, Wu Xingxie raised her arms upwards. Her back faced Yuyan, so the girl was unable to see her face.
Shutting her eyes, Wu Xingxie channeled Qi to her hands. A black aura emitted from her hands as she opened her mouth to say a spell.
Yuyan stood frozen, eyes staring at the dark thing on Wu Xingxie's hands. She couldn't understand what it was, but a voice told her to stop her Eldest Miss from casting the spell.
She thought she was hearing things when the voice spoke again.
"Don't let her cast the spell."
It was a man's voice that she had never heard before. Yuyan looked around for Wei or anyone but no one was there other than her and Wu Xingxie.
Yuyan looked back at Wu Xingxie who was busy performing the spell. The female didn't realize what was going on but the voice grew louder, urging Yuyan to stop Wu Xingxie.
"You can't let her cast the spell! Her current body cannot handle the side effects of Black Magic!" The voice practically yelled at Yuyan.
Yuyan was confused as hell about why the voice wanted her to stop her Eldest Miss but realizing he said her body couldn't handle it, Yuyan understood.
Hearing his voice, Wu Xingxie called to mind their first meeting. Since he had been wounded, she helped him out of solicitude. There was a low chance they'd meet in the human realm so she never thought much about it. However, remembering their wedding in her future life and the way he acted towards her male identity, it all made sense.
Wu Xingxie connected everything together and came to a conclusion.
He couldn't possibly have feelings for me right?
After experiencing what it felt to like someone, Wu Xingxie had gotten smarter when it came to romance. Only, she was dubious about true love and soul mates. Therefore, she chose a marriage that benefited her rather than be with someone who society considered unsuitable for her status. If she never had feelings for the groom, she couldn't be hurt ever.
Revenge comes before my happiness.
"I'm sorry...." She apologized in a low voice.
She didn't want to hurt his feelings but they hardly knew each other.
"You don't have to be. This time, I will court you instead of using my power to get an arranged marriage." He declared, smiling as he looked up at the sky which begun to clear.
Wu Xingxie stayed speechless at his bold declaration, sitting up to face him.
"You knew?" She asked, referring to the fact that she time-travelled.
Hu Jiayi nodded at her question. He realized, honesty was the key because without it, there would be no trust. Without trust, there was no love.
"I hate myself for not arriving in time. If I had gotten there early, you wouldn't have to resort to Forbidden Magic." He narrated what happened that day on their wedding.
