Reluctantly, the young male took a bite. His face lightened up, a faint smile on his lips.
"This is really good!" He exclaimed before taking another bite.
"I think Sizheng will like these. Jie, can you give a few to me?" He asked politely to which Wu Xingxie chuckled, nodding her head.
"Of course. I made them for you guys. Here, try it." She grabbed another mooncake and put it in front of Yuyan's mouth. The girl looked shocked for a second but opened the her mouth and bit into the dessert. A faint blush on her face, Yuyan chewed the mooncake smiling.
"Seventh Young Master is right. It really is good!" Yuyan agreed as she savored the lotus seed paste on her tongue.
Wu Xingxie wrapped some mooncakes up for her brother. She and Yuyan made some more for later, keeping them in a container. Once finished, Wu Xingxie helped Yuyan clean up the kitchen so that they could be done faster.
After that, she changed into a different hanfu for the day. Recalling that she had to spend time with General Tang, a flash of unhappiness formed in her eyes but she recomposed her mind before asking Yuyan to do her hair.
"I want a simple style. I'll be going out into the city so I don't want to attract attention."
"Alright, how about a braid?" Yuyan suggested since it was easy to do and comfortable to wear.
Yuyan picked up the brush and began detangling Wu Xingxie's long black hair. Picking up the hair, she split it into three before weaving it into a braid down the female's back.
Choosing a simple hairpin, Yuyan secured the hair in place and glanced at Wu Xingxie who seemed very satisfied with the look.
"I really like it." She expressed genuinely. Although Yuyan was her maid, Wu Xingxie treated her like a sister. The time they spent together, she never forgot a second of it. Even moments that seemed unimportant, to her, they were precious since Yuyan meant so much to her.
"Today, I'll be enjoying the festival with General Tang. Can you take care of Xuan'er?" Wu Xingxie requested since she didn't want him to stay alone all by himself.
"Of course but won't Sizheng be staying with him?" Yuyan asked since the two boys were always together.
"I plan to bring Sizheng with me. Even if General Tang is my fiancé, I don't want to be awkward with him." Wu Xingxie explained her reason. She believed that the two would get along pretty well since both grew up in the Gu estate. When Sizheng was brought in, General Tang was stationed outside the capital so the two never had the chance to meet.
"Are you sure about this marriage?" Yuyan asked sadly.
"General Tang is a good man, but there's no way I could fall for him. After I move in the Gu estate, he'll be returning to the north to finish his work. If Doctor Wu Dan accepts me
as a student, I'll ask him to divorce me."
Wu Xingxie stated blankly without thinking much.
"Wow! Eldest Miss is so cruel!" Yuyan exclaimed half jokingly.
"You've already thought that far ahead? And here I was worrying about you becoming a widow if something happened to General Tang and not being to remarry." Yuyan said before sighing, shaking her head in disbelief.
Her emotionless voice changed as she reached her hand out and told the younger boy,
"Come meet General Tang. He grew up under Prime Minister Gu's care."
Sizheng slowly nodded and took her hand before glancing at the general.
General Tang looked down at the child and raised a brow.
"What is the meaning of this?" He inquired with a curious tone, pointing his chin at the boy.
Wu Xingxie bent over to pick Sizheng up into her arms and affectionately smiled at him before looking at the general with a bored look
"He grew up in the Gu estate before Madam Gu asked me to take care of him. He can't speak but he's very smart. Isn't that right?" Wu Xingxie playfully pinched Sizheng's cheek. He didn't get angry but smiled and nodded at her statement.
General Tang sat in his horse, baffled by the girl's bias attitude. Scoffing, he bit his tongue to avoid saying offensive words in front of a child.
"Are you ready? If so, get on the horse." He prompted for her to get on so that they could be over with the day.
"Here, be careful." Hoisting Sizheng onto the horse, Wu Xingxie swiftly got on behind him so that he was between her and General Tang.
