She couldn't help but sneer, "Did you bring me here to curse me out or beat me up on Selena's behalf, Mr. Blackwell? Or are you planning to just dispose of the body?"

Adrian stood with one hand in his pocket, his back straight, looking down on her like an ant. "I don't want to hear you slander her reputation again."

Slander? She had only spoken the truth. The truth hurts. They had the nerve to do it but not to let anyone talk about it.

Of course, she knew there was no benefit in clashing with Adrian head-on.

So she said, "If you're so afraid of misunderstandings, then hurry up and divorce me. That way, no one can call her a homewrecker."

Adrian's gaze was heavy. "I told you, we do this at my pace. You don't get to decide when to get married and when to get divorced." He sneered. "What, have you gotten addicted to controlling me?"

If she could control him, would things have ended up like this?

She had raised their son so well, but after just a short time with him, the boy didn't even recognize his own mother.

She couldn't even handle a five-year-old, let alone this privileged heir and powerful CEO.

"Fine. Even if it's at your pace, you can at least give me a timeline, can't you? You can't expect me to wait my whole life if you never decide to divorce."

Adrian looked as if he'd just heard the biggest joke. The faint trace of mockery on his lips deepened. "You really think too highly of yourself."

Before Isabel could retort, he added coldly, "And stop parading around with other men in public. If you tarnish the Blackwell family's name, I guarantee you won't like the consequences. And let me say this one last time: these childish tricks of yours don't work on me."

With that, he turned and strode away, not caring what Isabel had to say.

When Isabel walked out, she saw Selena getting out of a car, her face full of concern. He seemed to murmur something gentle to her, then placed a hand on the roof of the car, protectively guiding her back inside.

The gleaming, luxurious car slowly drove away.

"Snap out of it." Julian snapped his fingers in front of her face. "Don't tell me you're still hung up on him. Is that why you haven't divorced yet?"

Isabel twisted her lips into a self-deprecating smile. "If after all this, I still haven't given up and insist on staying in this broken marriage, then I'm not just lovesick, I've got terminal brain cancer."

Isabel wasn't in a good mood and didn't want to banter with him.

"I have to get back to work. Drive safe on your way back."

When Adrian had grabbed her, the bag of food she was carrying had fallen and was now ruined.

What a waste.

She bent down to pick it up, intending to throw it in the trash.

As she started to walk away, she felt a tug on her clothes.

She turned back.

Julian said, "Don't forget, I'm still waiting to marry you. You'd better hurry it up. What if I have a romantic encounter? All bets will be off."
