“I even said sorry, but she’s still mad. I don’t understand.”

Adrian gently ruffled his small head. “Are you hurt?”

Oliver shook his head. “No. Leo wouldn’t dare hit me. He’s the one who broke my toy first.”

Adrian said nothing and simply instructed the driver to go.

Once they were out of the kindergarten, Selena told the driver to turn right, explaining to Adrian, “I promised Oliver we’d get a treat.”

Adrian grunted in acknowledgment. When they arrived, he didn’t get out of the car. Instead, he called Daniel to come and pick him up, leaving the Blackwell family’s driver for Selena and Oliver.

Isabel took Leo to the nearest clinic to have his cut treated.

Amanda rushed over as soon as she was finished with her work.

Seeing the wound on her son’s face, her heart ached. “How did you get into a fight?”

“I’m sorry, Amanda,” Isabel apologized immediately. “I’ll cover all the medical expenses. I’m responsible for this.”

She explained what had happened, concluding, “Oliver is definitely spoiled.”

Amanda was stunned. She never would have imagined such a coincidence.

“Has your son always gone to Starlight? I’ve never noticed you before.”

Isabel shook her head. “He just transferred. He used to go to another one.”

Previously, Oliver attended a kindergarten near Halcyon Hills Residence.

Just a short while ago, he had announced he wanted to transfer to Starlight.

Adrian had agreed, saying it was on his way to work and he could handle drop-offs and pick-ups.

She hadn’t thought much of it. Adrian hadn’t been around much before Oliver turned two, but he was his father, after all.

And she had harbored a small hope that, occasionally, she might be able to drop their son off with Adrian, giving them a little more time together.

But not long after the transfer, the snowstorm hit.

She hadn't yet had a chance to take Oliver to this new kindergarten.

But today, she thought she understood why Oliver was at Starlight.

Because this kindergarten was also conveniently on the way to pick up Selena from work.

Selena was heading to their lab, after all.

Oliver was happily eating a burger by a first-floor window when he saw Isabel and Leo walk past, laughing and talking.

He immediately ran out after them.

He saw Isabel buy Leo a cotton candy.

His little fists clenched tightly.

“Oliver...”

Selena, who had followed him out, saw the scene as well. She knelt down to comfort him. “Those are just your mom’s colleagues. They’re probably busy with work and just brought the little boy along. Don’t overthink it.”

Oliver asked, “Then why didn’t Mommy take me?”

Selena stroked his head. “Maybe it’s because your mom and dad are getting a divorce, so she’s in a really bad mood. You look so much like your dad, and seeing you probably reminds her of him. She might have started to dislike you both because of it.”

“But don’t worry. Once I talk them into making up, your mommy will come home, cook your favorite foods, and love you again.”

Oliver wiped his tears away. “Really?”

Selena nodded. “Of course. What mother doesn’t love her child? Auntie Selena would never lie to you.”

Oliver’s mood instantly lifted. “I believe you, Auntie Selena.”
