Isabel stuffed a piece of a breakfast bun into her mouth, chewing diligently.
She didn't understand why he was asking.
Dylan turned the steering wheel. "Henry and Adrian are as thick as thieves. Yesterday he said the deal was off, today he says it's back on. That must mean Adrian relented."
Isabel still didn't get it. "So?"
Dylan glanced at her dazed expression, a smudge of white from her milk on the corner of her mouth.
They were at a red light. He started to reach out, but then restrained himself, grabbing a napkin and dabbing it on her face instead.
"You're such a messy eater."
"..."
Isabel decided that all men were annoying in their own unique ways.
Her past self, who had given up her dreams to chase after a man, had been a complete fool.
Dylan waited, but she didn't ask any more questions.
Instead, she neatly folded her trash and the used napkin and placed them on the floor mat.
His car didn't have a trash can.
So he continued on his own, "Did Adrian relent and stop targeting me because you said something at Halcyon Hills Residence yesterday?"
It was true they had argued last night.
But she wasn't sure what Adrian's motive was for doing this.
He had said that if she stayed the night and took Oliver to school, Henry's herb garden would continue the partnership.
But she couldn't be bothered to think about it.
All she wanted was a divorce.
Hopefully, in a little while, Adrian would just call her to go sign the papers.
"Well, you rejected them anyway, so who cares?"
Dylan didn't want to keep talking about Adrian either, so they dropped the subject.

At Halcyon Hills Residence.
Martha finished making breakfast and went upstairs to call them down.
...
After breakfast, Adrian dropped Oliver off at school, gave Selena a ride, and then went to the Blackwell Group.
Henry was already waiting for him. When he saw him, he scanned his outfit for the day.
His eyes landed on a wrinkle at the hem of his shirt.
He grinned teasingly. "See? There's a difference between having a wife and not having one."
Adrian shot him a cold look. "If you have something to say, say it."
Henry leaned against his desk, arms crossed, a knowing smile on his face. "You're the one who told me last night to inform your wife's side that the partnership was back on. And guess what..."
Adrian stared at him, his gaze turning icy, the pressure in the room mounting.
Henry knew when to quit. "They rejected the offer. Surprise, surprise."
Adrian's lips tightened slightly.
Having grown up with him, Henry could read him to some extent.
"I'm a little confused, so maybe you can enlighten me, Mr. Blackwell. Are you trying to get a divorce or not?"
