This weekend, that guy Waller went over to Willow's place again. He usually stayed the entire day. A single man and a single woman, alone in an apartment—how could he not overthink it?

He wondered what they were doing when they were together and how far things had progressed between them.

Holding hands?

Kissing?

Or...

Beasley couldn't help but picture it, yet he fought desperately to force the thoughts away. If he kept dwelling on it, the regret, resentment, and jealousy would explode in his chest, tearing him apart until nothing was left.

So he had no choice but to lock down all his emotions to stop them from spreading.

It was Saturday. He had met Sanford at Opal Residences in the morning, spent the afternoon working in his study, and now he was scheduled to meet York Sinclair at Silverton for the evening.

He hadn't refused the invitation.

At exactly seven o'clock, he arrived for the meetup.

"What have you been busy with lately?" York asked, casually pouring him a drink.

"Same old," Beasley replied, his expression flat.

York finished pouring his drink, poured one for himself, and let out a sigh. "Man, I admire you. I'm barely hanging on. I really wish my brother could take over the day after tomorrow."

Beasley looked up. "How is your brother doing?"

York set the bottle down, a relieved smile finally forming on his face. "He's already in physical therapy, but it'll be another six months before he can walk normally without crutches."

Beasley nodded. "As long as he recovers."

"Hell yeah!" York's smile grew brighter. "And in six months, we'll have two things to celebrate. Just thinking about it puts me in a good mood!"

"What two things?" Beasley picked up his glass and took a slow sip, his voice deep and lazy. "Besides your brother getting back on his feet, what else is there to celebrate?"
