Her light breaths and heartbeats signalling to me that she's asleep, her soft lips moving slightly. I tenderly brush my fingers against her forehead, moving a stray hair.

I hear a twig snap and I immediately whip my head towards the sound, my ears searching for other noises, but nothing is found. My wolf growls in my mind, feeling on edge just like me. The atmosphere now changed to something more ominous, the mysterious sound causing an overprotective matter in me to be released.

I understand that it could be a forest animal but with the current circumstances, it would be naive and dangerous of me to think that. My right hand moves from caressing Adella's smooth stomach to the other side of the tree and blindly rummages for some clothing.

I finally find a pair of sweats and t-shirt and I then gently move Adella and place the t-shirt over her, whilst I'm doing so her eyes flutter slightly and whispers something incoherent.

"Go back to sleep babe." I encourage to her sweetly and she obeys my command, her unassuming state returning. I then while carrying my mate in my arms, place the sweats on me. The task very hard, with Adella's body occupying my two arms, I shuffle awkwardly to get the sweats on me.

Once done I start walking back in the direction of the house, or what it seems like. Now wishing that Adella was awake so she could direct us back to our house but I didn't want to disturb her. My bearings leading me somewhere, mostly I feel like I have a blindfold on and am being lead somewhere. The disadvantage of having such vast lands.

I still don't know where I am and I can't mindlink anyone in the pack as I'm not officially in it yet. I soon hear more twigs snap and scents surround me.

I turn my head and speed up my pace, hoping that I'm nearly home. Not worried for my sake as I could easily take on a good number of men, but Adella could get injured and the thought of that makes me see red.

She could be pregnant as well. My wolf whispers in my mind, triggering my eyes to go wide.

Last night we hadn't used protection, the intensity of the moment making us forget about it. My heartbeat rises incredibly as I think of a pup of my own, the thought of my mate growing big with our offspring. The house messy and loud from the children we will have, but it also makes me worry with the threat from Russell.

The same man answers my question, "We work for someone that wants her."

The men start to close in on us, I feel Adella's presence more fondly - indicating that she's awake. Her eyes stay closed, her heartbeat and breaths stay slow and I smirk. Loving her deceit. I discreetly loosen my grip on her so she is able to attack the oncoming assailants.

The men in front start charging at us and once close enough Adella jumps out my arms and crashes into them, her nails elongating into claws and slashing at the men. They immediately fall to the ground, writhing in pain as her claws deeply slash into their chests.

I turn around and focus on the men and wolves behind me, they as well charge in and my wolf growls in my mind at their attack.

I run at them and shift into wolf form, landing on one of the men and tearing out his neck. The other men falter a little, their eyes wide at the sight of my massive wolf and the blood dripping off my canines.
