After finally letting out all the emotions out, I pulled away from Cara's embrace and gave her a watery smile. "Thank you. I needed that." Cara gave me a weak smile and sighed. "I'm really sorry for my brother's actions. He's a really nice guy but he has... issues."

She paused and continued and pulled out a bar of chocolate from her pocket. "Do you like chocolate? I always eat some when I'm feeling down so I always carry one with me."

I cracked a small smile at that and nodded, "Yes. Alright." Cara grinned and broke the chocolate bar into small pieces and gave some to me while she had the rest. "So, where are you from? Like which pack? Obviously you're not from the European one because I would have recognised you."

"The North American one. With Alpha James." I answered and Cara nodded and gave me a grin. "Ooh! There's that cute beta too right? Beta William Palmer."

Immediately, my heart dropped and I looked away. "Yes. He is cute." I offered quietly and Cara frowned, obviously wondering about my sudden downtrodden mood. And I guess it clicked and she gasped once again, "Oh god, he was your chosen wasn't he?"

I shrugged, not wanting to say too much because I knew it'll hurt. "I'm so sorry Sydney. Wait, can I call you Syd?" Cara hugged me again and changed the topic.

"It's alright, it isn't your fault." It wasn't Cara's fault that I wasn't with Will now, it was her half-brother's fault and only his.

Cara sighs and gives me another smile, "So do you have any siblings? What about your parents? And how old are you?"

I laughed softly at her quick shooting of questions and answered, "I'm the middle child and I'm twenty years old. I have an older sister and a younger brother. We're all five years apart. And my parents passed ten years ago in an accident."

Cara nodded her head and stuffed another piece of chocolate into her mouth and said, "I don't have my parents either. My mom fell pregnant with me when she was nineteen and then she left. I've never met her before and I don't intend to. My father is Brendon's father too. He cheated on his chosen with my mother. I know that Brendon's father never liked me or Brendon himself. So it was Brendon who took care of me for the past nineteen years of my life."

I remained quiet, feeling sad for the both of us and I wondered why was Kingston so harsh and cold towards me when he treated Cara the exact opposite of how he treated me.

I scoffed inwardly at my ridiculous thoughts. What the hell was I thinking? Cara was his sister and I was a nobody to amuse him for the time being. "I'm sorry to hear that." I offered and Cara shook her head, "What are you apologising for silly? I'm just glad to have a new friend."

She beamed brightly at me and I couldn't help but smile back at her. I finally had a friend in this hell.

Suddenly, the door opened and I looked up to see Kingston himself enter. And immediately, I looked away. "Cara. What are you doing here?"

Cara scowled at him before scoffing. "Talking to your chosen. You didn't say you forced her! How could you? Mating is a sacred bond and you just-"
