He quoted Shakespeare and Kurt Cobain.
He said fuck a lot.
And he was drop dead gorgeous.
Can I trust a man like him? I don't know.
Is he a bad person? Definitely not.
Do I…love him? …
I got startled by someone knocking on my bedroom window. Ash lifted her little fluffy head a bit and yawned, but went to sleep right afterwards. Great. Maybe I should buy a guard dog. I slowly walked towards the window and stared into the night. Everything was devoured by darkness. Even the moon was hiding her pale face behind the heavy clouds. I reached for the cold, metal window handle and turned it to the left…A gush of ice cold air blew into my room…there was no one there.
"Hey." I suddenly heard a familiar voice next to me. My heart skipped a beat so fast, I thought I was gonna have a heart attack.
"Lucas!" I clenched the shirt on my chest. "What's with you being all serial killer like in the middle of the night? Can't you knock on the door like normal people? At a decent hour, of course." I got frustrated with him.
He pulled a cigarette out of the package, squeezing it between his lips. "Don't you know opening a window before even knowing who it is, is a dangerous thing? That's how we, serial killers, get our naive and innocent victims. You should at least light a flashlight or something. You know, like normal people." He mocked me with a cigarette in his mouth.
"What are you doing here anyway?" I crossed my arms, annoyed by his arrogance.
"I came to see you, of course." He lighted the cigarette. A small orange speck burned into the night like a tiny star.
"Aha." I raised one of my eyebrows in disbelief.
"Fine," He took a small puff and brushed his lower lip with his thumb. "I need a place to crash."
"Again?"
"Yeah, well…" He stared into the night with a serious expression on his face.
"Did your father…Did he hurt y…"
He shook his head, smiling. He paused for a second, thinking. He flicked the burned out cigarette into the night. "I'll take it. Even if it is just sleeping on the floor." He said and jumped in my room. "Where's your mom?"
"Sleeping."
"Won't she hear us?" He whispered.
"No, she has sound-proof walls in her bedroom. It has something to do with the city noise, car noise at night…she can't sleep if she hears that. One of her messed up things." I shook my head.
"Oh." He said and took off his shoes. Green all-stars. Lucas sat on the floor in a yoga like position. "Hey, how come the cat is allowed to sleep on the bed, and I have to sleep on the floor?" He narrowed his eyes towards Ash, who was sleeping at the end of my bed.
"Because the cat has manners."
"Manners? What, licking her privates?" He said, completely serious. "I promise you, if I could do that…"
"No!" I snapped. "I meant like…bed manners. She doesn't p…poke me with…you know…the last time you were here…" I mumbled.
