"I'll never let anyone hurt you again Skye." He softly spoke in my ear, warm breath coming from his lips.
We were hugging in silence for a few minutes, until the tears stopped. He noticed I was still staring at the red stains on my jacket. "Take it off." He gently ordered and started taking off his as well. He put his leather jacket on my shoulders. I looked so small in it. It was cold on the outside, but warm on the inside. "I'm lending it to you."
"I can't…" I mumbled, surprised.
"I said I'm lending it to you, not giving it." He said more firmly. "You try to get stains out of this one," He was tucking mine into my backpack "or buy a new one. Until then, you're stuck with this." He shrugged.
"What about you?" I didn't want him to walk around only in his shirt, even if it was just for today. I didn't want him to get sick because of me.
"Don't worry," He said, raising one of his eyebrows " I'm tougher than I look." He smiled. "C'mon, I'll walk you to class, and then I've got to go." He offered me a hand when I stepped down.
We walked towards my class in silence and when we stopped at the door, I've noticed that there was something I forgot to say. " Thank you Lucas." I looked down, a blush spreading across my cheek.
His lips twisted into a happy smile and he patted my head, like I was some cat. "See you later, lil' kitty."

I was hoping that Virginia would lay off, at least for a couple of days. When I came to the cafeteria I was still clenching to Lucas's jacket, like he was there. I loved his sent, it made me feel so safe, even if it was just an illusion. I didn't see him anywhere so I did what I always do; took a cheese sandwich and sat at the table in the corner. I looked around but there was still no sign of him.
All of a sudden I heard that bumping sound of trays hitting my table. It was Jimmy and Kayla.
"Hi! You're Skye, right?" He asked, cheerfully. His bleached blond hair was styled into a Mohawk and a silver piercing in his right eyebrow made his blue eyes seem even brighter. As he sat down I heard the clanking noise of chains strapped to his belt, hitting the chair. He smiled and offered me his hand. "I'm Jimmy," He shook my hand "and this is Kayla." He was incredibly cheerful for a guy.
Kayla just nodded. "Yo." She sat next to Jimmy, tucking her purple hair behind her ear.
"So anyway, Lucas sent us to watch over you. You know, 'cause of the incident." Jimmy whispered the last sentence, covering his mouth.
"At a…charity organization." His mouth widened in that obviously awkward smile as he looked at Kayla, who seemed surprised with the answer. Suddenly they both bursted out laughing. Jimmy snorted a few times while he was laughing, and he also made some weird highly-pitched noises. Kayla's laugh was deeper and louder than Jimmy's, and because her mouth were wide open I've noticed she had a piercing in her tongue - a red dice.
"Okay, okay," Jimmy silently laughed, wiping a few tears from his eyes. "let's calm down." He turned towards Kayla, who buried her face in his shoulder, trying to muffle the sound of laughter.
If I wouldn't know better, I'd say that they were a cute couple. "So…that was a joke?" I slowly asked, not sure what was that about.
"No, he is a host at a charity organisation…sort of." He made that snorting sound again and Kayla rolled her eyes.
"So what's with you always eating cheese sandwiches?" Kayla quickly changed the subject when she saw me taking a bite of my sandwich. I didn't know that she noticed me before. The tone and arrogance in her voice was similar to Lucas's, but not the same. Hers was like a bad copy.
Surprisingly I wasn't that nervous around his friends, maybe it was just because of the hit in the head. "My mom can't stand the colour - yellow, so at home we have no products that colour, but I love cheese, and the only time I get to eat it is school, so…" I tried to explain.
