The Next Day

Lilian was still fast asleep in her room when Jayda went to open the door for Roman. She had texted him the night before and pleaded for him to come over this morning and she was glad he heeded to her request.

"Why didn't you tell me anything?" Jayda accused.

Roman rubbed his palms together and let out some air.

"Lilian and I trust you, we know you will always be there for us. I honestly don't know why we never told you about it. I guess it was a shock to us and we were trying to deal with it in our own way to avoid pity. Had I known bringing the issue of a child will tamper with Lilian and I's relationship, I would have never said anything about it."

"She said you really want a child and she could see the desire in your eyes when you look at other people's children."

"I won't lie, I do want a child and if I can't have one with Lilian, I would rather not have one at all."

"The baby issue started when we stopped using protection when making love. I said I will be the happiest if we were pregnant. I never knew she took my word to heart. The hardest thing was comforting her whenever she took a test and it came out negative."

She said you did not agree to surrogacy or IVF," Jayda said.

Roman let out a sigh. "Lilian is desperate and whenever she's desperate she thinks of doing the unthinkable."

"I disagreed with the idea not because I'm selfish, but because I don't want her to go through the trauma of another disappointment. I assured her that with time, we will surely get pregnant. She said it was easy for me to say that because I could easily pick up any girl, fuck her and get her pregnant."

"You know she doesn't mean what she said." Jayda justified.

"I know, and I understand things from her point of view. I also understand her insecurities. That's why I said when she's desperate and angry, she says and thinks of the unthinkable."

"She's afraid I will eventually get tired of her and run off with another woman who can give me a child. But what she doesn't know is that it's either I have my child with her or with no one else."

"But I called you two nights ago and you didn't tell me she broke up with you." Jayda accused.

"I was actually on my way to her place when you called, I had no idea she was going to break up with me."

"But you know she didn't mean to?" Jayda justified.

Roman nodded. "I thought she needed space that's why she said all that she said to me."

"You both don't need any space. You need each other; Lilian needs you more than ever. She's in her room, please go talk to her, make her see things from your perspective and assure her that you will never leave her or cheat on her."

"Are you sure she wants to see me?" Roman asked nervously.

Jayda nodded.

Rome heaved a sigh and then proceeded to Lilian's room.

While Roman sorted things out with Lily in her room, Jayda occupied herself with her phone and soon enough, the doorbell rang.

As soon as Jayda opened the door, she was pulled into a hug by Aaron who hugged her legs tightly.

"Good morning, Mommy." He greeted, then kissed Jayda's belly. "Good morning Sissy. Big brother loves you." He never fails to greet or talk to his baby sister every time he gets the opportunity to do so. Little Aaron spends his weekdays with Katie and most of his weekends with Sebastian and Jayda.

Jayda dropped down to Aaron's height and pulled him into a hug. Then she kissed his forehead.

"I missed you, mommy." He pouted.

Jayda smiled, "I missed you too, my love. Were you good to Daddy?" She asked. He nodded.

"Morning Babes!" Sebastian gave Jayda a hug, then placed a kiss on her lips.

"Let me drop this in the kitchen and I will be right back," Seb said, referring to the bag of breakfast he was holding.

Jayda nodded. She locked the door behind him.

Sebastian settled Aaron on a single couch and gave him his IPad to keep him occupied while he and Jayda talked.

They both sat on a couch opposite Aaron. "I'm here now. You can tell me everything." He assured. He could tell something was truly wrong and from Jayda's puffy eyes, he could tell tears were shed.

Then Jayda told him everything!

"I'm a terrible friend. I made Lilian and I's friendship all about me that I didn't bother to observe if everything was okay with her." Jayda completed with tear-filled eyes.

"I thought She and Roman were good, I didn't know they were going through hard times."

Sebastian caressed his fiancee's cheeks. "There was no way you could have known without her telling you. I'm close to Roman and I didn't know about it too."

"You are not a terrible person and neither are you a terrible friend. You cannot do anything about the past and I like how you're taking responsibility. You stayed with Lily overnight and you called Roman this morning to talk to him and made him see the reasons why he should fix things with Lilian."

"They have us and we will always be there for them" Seb assured.

Roman quietly shut the door quietly behind him when he stepped into Lilian's room.

He approached her bedside and saw she was still sleeping soundly. He placed a soft kiss on her forehead before gently taking a seat beside her.

He caressed her hands until she opened her tired eyes.

"No matter what happens, I will never leave you. I love you so much and I plan to spend the rest of my life with you."

"You promise?" She whispered,

"I promise!" Roman said before pulling the love of his life into a tight hug and then he kissed her forehead.

"Thank you for coming over to settle things with me." She said in his chest.

"Jayda called me over and spoke some sense into me. You should thank her."

"She also feels guilty about everything that has happened. She thought if she had paid more attention, she would have known something was not right between us." Rome added.

"I didn't tell her because I didn't want her to get all stressed up. She has had a lot on her plate too." Lilian reasoned.

"I'm happy we are cool." She said as she snuggled close to Roman.

"Same here my love."

Lilian and Roman stayed in Lily's room for a while and engaged in conversations before they decided to join Jayda in the living room.

~~

"Aunt Lilian," Aaron said excitedly before running over to where Lilian was and hugging her legs tightly.

Lilian released herself from Aaron's hug, dropped down to her knees and hugged him.

"I missed you, buddy." She kissed his cheek.

"I missed you too aunt Lily."

"Did Uncle Rome make you cry?" He asked with a sad face.

Lilian chuckled, even though she had splashed some water on her face, her eyes were still puffy.

"No my love, my eyes were itching that's why it's like that."

Aaron nodded.

Lilian hugged Sebastian and then Jayda.

"You don't need to feel bad about anything. Thanks for calling Roman over. We are cool now." She said to Jayda.

"Everything will be fine, I promise," Jayda assured, giving her best friend a light squeeze on her shoulder.
