“Who I am doesn’t matter,” the person said, cool as ever. “What matters, Devin, is that you lost. You tried to kill me, but you failed.”

“You’re alive? How is that possible?”

“You should be dead!”

“Damn it, you were supposed to die on that plane! You were supposed to take everyone down with you! How are you still alive?” Devin sounded like he was about to scream. He couldn’t handle the idea of failure, and Libby’s appearance meant something had gone horribly wrong. Devin wasn’t used to being outplayed.

Wiona was just as shocked. She watched Devin’s face fall apart, piece by piece, while Libby stood over him, icy and relentless, like some avenging spirit.

“So you admit it,” Libby said. “You caused the crash. Your people hijacked the plane. You did all of that just to get rid of me, didn’t you?”
