Nathaniel's smile froze instantly.

But soon he composed himself, showing no sign of guilt after being exposed.

His love for me had clearly been an act all along.

The real him was right there-aloof, selfish, and cold.

Nathaniel shrugged. "Looks like you really must be head over heels for me if you can recognize me from just my silhouette."

I was taken aback, and my emotions erupted uncontrollably.

"Nathaniel, you don't deserve my love! You scum!"

I shook with anger as I pulled out the divorce papers I had prepared and threw them at him.

"let's divorce!"

He looked at me with a mix of surprise and disbelief. He opened the papers, glancing back and forth to confirm he wasn't mistaken.

Because I wasn't asking for any penny.

Nathaniel stared at me, clearly baffled. "Now that you know who I am, you don't want spousal support?"

I didn't have the energy to argue anymore.

"Just sign it."

All I wanted was to get divorced and never see him again.

Just as I said that his phone rang. He answered it and, after hearing whoever was on the other end, frowned. "Samantha, don't cry. I'll be right there."

He hung up and hurriedly took off his apron, looking ready to rush out.

I bit my lip. "Nathaniel, sign the divorce papers."

"No time."

Without sparing me a glance, he strode out the door.

I felt like I'd been thrown into an ice house.

He had deceived me, played with my feelings, and felt not a shred of guilt-for him, the prospect of divorce was insignificant compared to a call from his first love.

He didn't even look back at me.

I felt utterly desolate.

Did he really have the nerve to come here?

In his rush to leave yesterday, he forgot to hand me the keys.

I swung the door wide open. "Get out!"

Nathaniel sighed. "Celeste, stop being so childish."

I glared at him. "Just give me the keys. You aren't welcome here. And tomorrow morning, you must sign the paper-no excuses this time."

He looked at me and responded confidently, "Celeste, stop playing games with me. I know you're trying to get my attention by pretending not to want anything in the divorce papers. Well, congratulations, you caught my eye. Besides, a rich guy like me? I don't think you will let me go that easily?"

My spine stiffened. He genuinely looked down on me, thinking I'd be thrilled to be with him.

He couldn't be more wrong.

"Nathaniel, if I could, I'd wish I had never met you. If you bail on me again tomorrow, I'll take you to court for divorce."

Seeing my determination, which was clearly no joke, made his expression darken.

"Celeste, have you lost your mind? Do you know how many women would do anything just to catch my eye? And you still want a divorce?"
