"Meet her?" Hattie didn't understand, her anxiety spiking. "Sheryl is the kind of person who will argue even when she's dead wrong, let alone when she's covered in bruises. Won't she scream until the whole campus hears her? Juniper, this is a mess. I highly recommend you stay out of it."
"It's fine," Juniper sat up straight, her tone entirely nonchalant. "It just so happens I haven't seen her in a while."
"Her?" Hattie was completely lost, getting more confused by the second. "Juniper, who are you talking about?" Were they even having the same conversation?
"I'll bring you with me when the time comes!" Juniper looked at Hattie with a charming smile.
"Oh. Okay." Hattie rubbed her nose. She didn't really get it, but she didn't want to press the issue in the middle of class either. "By the way, the grades for our latest papers came out. As expected from a genius, you're the only one in the class who scored over ninety." More importantly, she had scored over ninety on all three papers. It was completely insane.
"These are my papers?" Juniper flipped through the graded sheets several times, her mind drawing a complete blank. "When did I ever write these?" Her name was on them, but she had absolutely no memory of the content.
"Huh?" Hattie blinked, thinking Juniper was acting very weird today. Was she talking nonsense?
"Oh, right. I remember now," Juniper leaned back lazily, speaking as if it were the most normal thing in the world. "Shanley did my homework for me."
"Mr. Schwartz did your homework?!" Hattie's eyes bugged out, her shock nearly causing her to scream out loud.
"Yeah," Juniper nodded, her expression perfectly calm. "It's not the first time. Back in high school, he used to stay up late finishing my assignments all the time."
Hattie was paralyzed in her seat, the word "shock" practically stamped across her forehead. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't picture the ruthless, domineering tycoon of the business world sitting quietly at a desk, doing homework. No wonder people privately gossiped that Mr. Schwartz was hopelessly whipped. She hadn't believed it before—after all, he didn't exactly look the part. But now? Whipped. Terminal stage.
After classes ended, Juniper was sitting in the classroom when someone came to fetch her.
"Goddess, Principal Landon wants to see you in his office."
