"I'm here to talk business with Juniper," Luella said, leaning comfortably against him. "I can't move. Dress me."
"Sure."
Jimmie did as he was told. Once she was dressed, he pressed a tender kiss to her lips and coaxed, "Juniper actually invited me over for dinner tonight. We can go together."
At the mention of dinner, Luella playfully kicked him again. Right. She had flown for twenty hours, hadn't eaten a single bite, and had been completely devoured instead.
Jimmie just chuckled, though he looked slightly apologetic. "I'm sorry. My impulse completely overrode my logic last night. I just missed you so much, and seeing you suddenly standing at my door... I couldn't help myself."
"Shut up." Luella felt her face grow hot, her heart racing as she bashfully looked down.
*Oh my god.*
Was she actually blushing? Love really did make people lose their minds. Terrifying.

To avoid suspicion, Jimmie arrived first.
Less than ten minutes after he sat down, Luella made her entrance.
The moment the door opened, both Shanley and Juniper looked completely bewildered, instinctively glancing over at Jimmie on the sofa.
"Surprise!" Luella walked in carrying a basket of fruit, flashing a bright smile. "Juniper! I'm back. Are you surprised?"
Juniper took a deep breath. She could feel the atmosphere in the room shift instantly. Surprised didn't even begin to cover it.
"When did you get back?" Juniper rubbed her nose, whispering a quick warning. "Why didn't you call ahead? Jimmie is here."
"It was a last-minute flight." Luella shoved the fruit basket into Shanley's arms and sidled up to Juniper, craning her neck to look at Jimmie. "It's fine. As long as I don't make it awkward, he's the one who has to suffer."
Luella waved. "Hello there, Mr. Tate."
Jimmie stood up, offering a polite, distant smile. "Long time no see, Mr. Langley."
Juniper and Shanley were like, "Huh?"
They had just gone through a supposedly heartbreaking rejection, and now they were acting this cool? The superstar really was a professional actor!
