"Haha." Sensing the awkwardness, Noemi quickly changed the subject. "Lori, I hear the pastries in Eclara City are incredible. Make sure to bring some back for me, okay?"

"I will." Lorelei replied softly. "Take care of yourself."

"I'm fine. As long as you two are doing well, I'm happy."

Noemi genuinely adored her daughter-in-law, regardless of the nasty rumors circulating outside.

She saw everything Lorelei did with her own eyes. She was a good girl.

"Yeah." Lorelei murmured softly, "Mom, I'll let you talk to Harold."

"What's there to talk about with this brat?" Noemi's tone shifted, taking on a warning edge. "If you dare mistreat Lori, I'll make you pay."

"When have I ever mistreated her?"

Harold asked helplessly, tightening his grip on the steering wheel, a slight frown forming.

He'd practically been her servant these past few days, catering to her every need.
