The Blackwood family.
Juniper snuck back into her room, bumping right into Coralie.
"Where have you been messing around?" Coralie blocked her path, lifting her chin. "Earlier, Jimmie dragged Luella back, and his face was absolute murder."
"We went to a club to look at some eye candy and got caught." Juniper rubbed her nose guiltily. "Is Luella going to be okay?"
Coralie flashed a meaningful smile. "That's highly debatable."
Juniper went completely mute.
Did they just shoot themselves in the foot?
——
In the upstairs bedroom.
Luella was cornered against the headboard by Jimmie, continually shuffling into the corner.
"Just like how you guys like watching beautiful women dance, we merely made a mistake any girl could make."
"Go on."
Jimmie ripped off his dress shirt, buttons popping off onto the floor, terrified Luella into holding her breath.
"Juniper was too nervous, I was just trying to help her relax."
Watching the man slowly advancing on her, Luella braced herself and said, "Besides, they took off their own clothes."
"Next time, I'll..."
"There's a next time?" Jimmie's eyes turned icy. He grabbed Luella's slender ankle and dragged her into his arms.
"No."
Luella was genuinely terrified; Jimmie's gaze was lethal. She sensibly threw her arms around his neck, pulling out all her sweet-talking tricks. "Hubby, I was wrong."
Normally, in front of outsiders, she called him Jimmie.
In private, she teasingly called him "pretty boy".
It was their little dynamic.
But she had never called him "Hubby", much less in such a sickeningly sweet tone.
Jimmie enjoyed it immensely. He asked deliberately, "What were you wrong about?"
"I shouldn't have looked at other guys." Luella's apology was very sincere. "My husband's face and body are ten thousand times better than theirs. From now on, I'll only look at my husband."
"Smooth talker." Jimmie leaned down and gave her lip a hard bite.
