The boy toy swallowed hard, taking a step back as he forced a smile.
What was there to be afraid of?
No matter how intimidating his aura was, wasn't he just another eye candy trying to get by on his looks, exactly like him?
Once Ms. Quill kicked him to the curb, he would take his place.
Then he'd be the one walking around the casino like he owned the place.
Even though he told himself not to be scared, the moment he met Channing's gaze, his heart inexplicably pounded with dread.
How did this guy look anything like a typical boy toy?
If you didn't know any better, you'd think he was the owner of the casino.
"Nothing. I heard you were new, so I came specifically to pay my respects," Channing said, his thin lips parting as his sharp gaze fixed on the man. His tone was slow and deliberate.
The boy toy opened his mouth but couldn't produce a sound.
Pay his respects?
With an aura and glare like that, who was he trying to scare to death?
Just as the tension reached its peak.
A voice suddenly rang out from the entrance. "Ms. Quill is here."
The boy toy immediately spun around, instantly reverting to the persona Coralie favored most.
Gentle, radiant, and exuding a serene calm.
Channing frowned slightly. Didn't she say she wasn't feeling well? Why did she suddenly show up?
A few seconds later.
Coralie walked through the doors, carrying her bag. The lobby's heating was on full blast, so she began shrugging off her cashmere coat as she walked.
"Ms. Quill—"
Seeing her, the boy toy immediately hurried forward to greet her.
"Oh."
Coralie merely glanced at him without breaking her stride, walking straight past him to Channing's side.
She unceremoniously dumped her coat, bag, and phone straight into Channing's arms.
"I'm a little hungry. Get me something to eat."
Coralie spoke to Channing as naturally as breathing. She hadn't eaten anything because of her blood test that morning.
"Breakfast wasn't to your liking?" Channing pulled his gaze away from the new guy, immediately keeping pace with her. "What do you want? I'll make it for you."
Coralie listed a bunch of dishes, and Channing memorized them all.
"The curtains in the room don't block the light well enough. Change them," Coralie ordered again. "They hurt my eyes while I was trying to sleep."
"Alright."
