"Are you saying Zachary Rhodes is doing this on purpose?"
Channing's cold, deep voice broke the silence as he flipped through the digital reports.
"It certainly seems hostile." Jude paused to think, then added, "His bidding direction is very similar to our project. And the prices he's offering are far higher than ours."
This could easily derail their own project.
It was a kamikaze tactic—sacrificing his own margins just to bleed them dry.
No one would believe it wasn't intentional.
"Governor, what should we do?" Jude's brows were tightly knit. "We've been preparing this project for two years, and it involves a lot of stakeholders. If it gets undercut, your reputation..."
Not only would his reputation take a hit, but it would hand perfect ammunition to the factions in the Prefecture who already disliked him.
"What's there to be afraid of?"
Listening to all this, Channing's expression didn't shift in the slightest. He smirked slightly, his tone indifferent. "A waste of space like him—do you really think he can make any real waves?"
"There might be your father backing him up behind the scenes."
Jude felt a bit guilty saying that. Was he driving a wedge between father and son?
But on second thought... The Governor's relationship with his father didn't really need any help deteriorating.
"Send me all the files regarding his project." Channing paused his scrolling, his voice dropping another few degrees. "You don't need to worry about anything else."
"Yes, sir."
Jude respectfully complied. If the Governor wanted it handled this way, he definitely had a plan.
"Oh, right, Governor, there's one more thing..." Jude suddenly remembered something and quickly added, "Recently, Zachary has snuck out secretly twice."
"But his people are incredibly cautious. They completely shook off the guards we had tailing him."
As for where he went, it was a complete mystery.
"Useless." Channing's eyes went icy as he voiced his displeasure. "Swap them out for people who actually have eyes in their heads."
"Understood."
Terrified by the sheer frost in his boss's voice, Jude hastily hung up the phone.
After finishing his work.
