Sienna walked out of the hotel, glanced indifferently at Tristan's furious message on her screen, and promptly dropped the phone to the ground, crushing it beneath her stiletto heel.
She pulled a brand-new burner phone from her designer bag and dialed Rupert's number.
"Rupert, thank you and Lester for your cooperation. You helped me find my mother, and she's already heading to Kingstoria International Airport. I'll send you what you want as soon as I get back."
"Mm."
Rupert's voice was cold and tired, utterly devoid of emotion.
It was as if the crucial leverage Sienna held meant absolutely nothing to him.
Not wanting to owe him any favors, Sienna continued, "Do you need me to go explain things to Sylvia? I got the feeling she misunderstood the situation between you and me."
Over the line, she could hear the clinking of ice against glass as Rupert poured a drink.
"Go explain your relationship with Lester."
"Excuse me? Explain that Lester and I were just putting on a show to fool Tristan?" Sienna thought she had misheard him.
"Yes," Rupert added in a low, glacial tone. "But keep your mouth shut about your true identity. She doesn't need to know too much."
Sienna finally processed his demand. "You're afraid that if she knows too much, she'll become a bigger target?"
Rupert merely took another sip of his drink, ignoring the question entirely.
Sienna tilted her head back, lit a cigarette, and smirked around the filter. "So you're just going to shoulder the blame for everything?"
"That's none of your business," Rupert warned darkly.
"Fine, I'll do as you ask and clear the air with her about Lester. I won't say a single word about anything else." Sienna blew out a cloud of smoke. "Goodbye."
Beep. Beep. Beep.
The man on the other end had clearly run out of patience.
Sienna crushed her cigarette and headed toward her car, but her burner phone instantly rang again.
It was an unknown number.
This phone used an overseas carrier. Other than Rupert, her mother was the only person who had the number.
Had something gone wrong at the boarding gate?
