Hearing Sienna's words, Nora Rayner froze for a moment, her gaze instinctively darting toward Tristan Garcia.

Tristan's expression remained entirely unreadable. He casually blew on his hot tea before speaking in a level tone. "She's at the age where she needs to settle down. What's wrong with keeping her options open? I'm only looking out for her."

Swept by his intimidating glare, Nora nodded profusely.

She turned back to Sienna, her tone a messy mix of scolding and desperation. "Sienna, your father is right. You're a grown woman now; it's time you got married."

Sienna stared at her hopelessly devoted mother. She swallowed the blood pooling in her mouth with a bitter scoff, forcing her trembling body upright inch by inch.

"Married? To who? The guy whose wife is dying of cancer in the hospital, just so I can save his spot? Or the man whose daughter is my exact age? Or maybe the one whose relationship I'm supposed to destroy so I can swoop in and take over?"

"Mom, do you still not get it? He looks down on you. He plays you. Why would he ever respect a daughter born to you? If he did, why do I still carry your last name?"

"Out there, in that godforsaken country, I wasn't even worthy of carrying my own father's name!"

"And besides... why aren't you two married? Is it because you can't? Or because he simply never wanted you?"

The moment the words left her mouth, Tristan hurled his teacup, shattering it violently at Sienna's feet.

"You insolent brat! On your knees!"

"Never!"

Sienna glared at Tristan through gritted teeth.

Tristan narrowed his predatory gaze and gave a dismissive wave to his bodyguards.

A bodyguard immediately shoved Sienna downward, forcing her bare knees directly onto the jagged pile of broken glass.

A muffled groan escaped her lips, but she bit down fiercely on her lower lip, refusing to utter a single plea for mercy.

Tristan cast a cold, detached glance at her bleeding knees. Taking the cue, the bodyguard pressed his heavy hands firmly down on her shoulders.

Within seconds, dark crimson began seeping through the fabric of Sienna's dress.

Witnessing the horrific scene, Nora finally showed a flicker of reaction.

"No, don't do this. Sienna won't be able to handle it."

A bizarre, deeply conflicted expression twisted across her face.

She began rubbing her hands frantically against her chest, then moved to violently scratch at her own neck.
