"Sounds good," she agreed.

Grace looked up at the boy still clinging to him. "Andie, we're about to start the hike. Hop down from Uncle Lyman now."

Andie refused, wrapping his limbs around Lyman like a koala bear.

Grace shot Lyman a helpless look before adopting a stern tone. "Andie, if you don't come down this instant, I'm going to be very upset."

Lyman quickly intervened. "Don't be so harsh. You're going to scare him."

"But what else can I do?" Grace reasoned. "He can't stay this fragile and spoiled forever. He's a boy. He needs to toughen up."

"Take it slow," Lyman advised gently. "Given everything he's been through, you can't rush this."

With a conceding sigh, Grace agreed. "Fine."

Lyman began the ascent with the toddler securely in his arms, Grace trailing closely behind with a picture-perfect, gentle smile.
