Annie's P. O. V.
I sat on the bleachers next to Mike. It has only been 15 minutes and I'm already feeling uncomfortable. I don't one how I will survive the entire game.
"You okay?" Mike asked.
"Yeah...I've never been to a game before so this feels weird being here," I said and adjusted my glasses.
"Don't worry, I'm right here. If you hate this we can always leave," Mike said reassuringly.
After a few more minutes, I was starting to feel better. Mike seemed to be really into it.
"Having fun?" I turned around and my heart fluttered as Evan loomed over my shoulder.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked him.
"The real question is, what are you doing here? This is not your scene," he said.
"She is obviously hanging out with me, bro. What are you doing here anyway? You don't like going to games," Mike interjected.
"I am here for Annie," Evan said casually.
He is here for me? I'm still kind of upset about what he said about me before but hearing him say that made me happy.
He tapped on the shoulder of the guy who was sitting next to me.
"We are switching seats," he said and narrowed his eyes at him.
The guy looked at him quizzically. "No I like this seat," he said.
"Get the fuck off of this chair right now or I throw you across the field," Evan said menacingly.
Jeez...always with the intimidation.
"Shit, you can have this chair," the guy left hurriedly.
Mike chuckled. "Jeez, dude. Do you always have to act like an asshole?" he said, shaking his head.
Evan shrugged and plopped down next to me. I fidgeted uncomfortably as I sat between two guys who had nothing to do with me a couple of months ago. Now they both want to be friends?
"Don't mind this brute, Annie. He just had to come and ruin our quality time together," Mike smirked. "He is jealous of me because you like me better."
"In your dreams. Why would I be jealous of you? I'm not her boyfriend and neither are you. Besides, she liked me first. Isn't that right, Annie?" Evan declared.
I was confused. Are they arguing about me?
Evan's P. O. V.
There was no way in hell I would leave Mike be alone with Annie. I could tell she was already uncomfortable. She is not used to being in the middle of a crowd.
I looked at Annie who was trying her best to focus on the game. She had her hair tied up in a messy bun again. She wore a loose t-shirt with leggings.
She looked at me once then averted her gaze shyly. Such a cutie.
I saw Lily cheering at the field. She saw me and excitedly waved her pompom at me. Great...I was hoping she wouldn't notice I was here.
I saw Annie's hands shake. She must be feeling anxious about being in the middle of the crowd. I quickly grabbed her hand and squeezed it. She looked at me with surprise but I didn't look at her and continued to hold her hand. I saw Mike looking at our hands on my peripheral vision. His face twisted into a frown. He grabbed her other hand.
"Um..." Annie said.
"Sounds like a good time, Evan. Go ahead and have fun. Me and Annie are going home to play some games. How about it?" Mike said and turned to Annie.
"Okay," she said quietly.
"I'll pass," I said. "Unless Annie comes with me," I declared. Both Annie and Mike looked at me with surprise.
"Huh? No no it's okay. I am not even hungry," Annie let out a nervous giggle.
"Then I am not going either," I said.
"Evan, can I talk to you in private?" Lily was all smiles but I knew she was annoyed at me for inviting Annie.
"Fine. You two, stay right where you are," I ordered. Mike grinned. "Don't make Lily wait too long," he said and wrapped his arms around Annie. Is he trying to piss me off?
"What do you wanna say to me?" I asked.
"Why are you inviting that dork with us?" Lily said.
Rage flickered inside me. Who does she think she is?
"Who you calling a dork?" I snarled.
"That girl with glasses. You know I don't associate with people like her!" she exclaimed.
"People like her?" I repeated.
"Yeah, she is so fucking weird. My friends will make fun of me if I become friends with her. I invited you because you are a cool guy Evan, and I really like you. So come on, just ditch that nerd with Mike and come with me. And maybe we can hang out even longer after that," she touched my arm flirtatiously.
"No thanks. I don't like you, Lily. I'd rather stay with Annie. She is much more interesting than you. Have fun at the burger joint," I said and walked away.
