Clairessa’s POV

Gabriel let out a laugh, mixed with warning and surrender. “I don’t know if we should…” he began.

My voice dipped into a low, playful purr. “You mean… have sex?”

He nodded, his hand brushing lower until his fingers traced the tender stretch of skin where the bullet had torn through me. The scar was still red, faintly ridged.

“It’s only been a few weeks,” he murmured, his thumb brushing carefully along the mark. “Maybe we should wait…”

A soft chuckle escaped me. Gabriel, always so cautious, so protective, as if I were made of glass.

“The doctors cleared me to go back to work, exercising… back to everything,” I interrupted, a grin tugging at my lips. “You don’t have anything to worry about.”

I covered his hand with mine, easing it away from the scar, then slid it firmly onto my thigh. “It’s healing,” I whispered, meeting his eyes with a daring tilt of my smile.

He wanted me. I could feel it in the heat rolling off him, in the way his body pressed hard against mine. But he was holding back, locking it down the way he always did when he thought he had to protect me.

Not tonight. I wanted wild. Untamed. Dark. Sinister Gabriel.

My hand slid down, slipping between us, between my thighs until I found the thick bulge straining against his pants. I wrapped my fingers around him, stroking slow, savoring how big, how hard he already was. He jerked, a strangled groan breaking from him.

“Fuck… Clairessa…” My name tore out of his throat, almost a growl.

“You’re hard for me,” I breathed against his lips, squeezing him tighter. His cock throbbed in my hand and I pressed myself closer, rolling against him. My hands moved up then, sliding around his neck, threading into his hair, tugging until he groaned again.

My breasts brushed against his bare chest, my nipples tightening from the friction, the sharp ache shooting fire straight through me. God, I loved seducing him, loved watching him fight, watching him crack, and then finally break.

“It’s been weeks, Gabriel,” I whispered against his neck, my voice rough with want. My tongue flicked against his skin and he shivered under me. “I miss you. I need this. I need us. And I know you feel it too… you were just scared.”

He dragged a hand down his face, his body trembling as if he was holding himself together by a thread. “You don’t understand how much I’d been holding back. How much I’d wanted to touch you. But the thought of… hurting both of you…”

So that was what it was. The baby. His fear hadn’t left him… the trauma of almost losing us still haunted him, chained him down even now.

“You’re not going to hurt either of us,” I said firmly, sliding my lips along his throat, kissing him slow and hot, letting each kiss linger until his breathing turned ragged.

“Besides…” I smiled wickedly, my mouth brushing his ear. “Whatever makes mama happy makes the baby happy.”

A low, shaky laugh left him, half relief, half hunger. I reached for his hand and placed it against my chest. “Do you feel that?” I rasped, my eyes burning into his. “That’s me. Alive. Needing you.”

His gaze dropped, searing over the sight of his hand covering my breast, the rise and fall of it beneath his touch. I tipped his chin back up, forcing him to look at me, daring him not to run from this.

“Marco is dead. His men are locked away. We are safe. I'm safe.” I kissed his jaw, his cheek, then nipped at his earlobe, tugging until he hissed. “And tonight I want my Gabriel back. Not the protector. Not the caretaker. The man who would fuck me until the only word on my lips was his name.”

His groan rumbled against my mouth as he crushed me into a kiss, fierce, hungry, his tongue invading, claiming, devouring me. Every trace of tenderness was gone. His eyes had darkened, wild and unstable, and I drowned in it.
