Fascinating Danger novel Chapter 2

I smile at her. "That's okay. What's his name?" I looked down into the pram to see a cute little baby boy. He has a head full of black curly locks and bright blue eyes.

He is so adorable. "His name is Fabian" She says, taking out her phone and quickly texting someone. I wave at the little boy and he puts his fist in his mouth and smiles at me. Aw.

The elevator is only on the sixth floor, so there is still a long way to go. "Who are you texting?" I ask. "Fabians' dad, he's going to flip if I don't tell him what happened" She says smiling at me.

"Where are you headed?" She asks. "I have an interview for a personal assistant job. It's the first time I've been trying for a personal assistant, but I feel pretty good this morning so I'm hoping it goes alright" I answer smiling warmly at her.

"What about you? Where are you going with this little munchkin?" I ask smiling down at the cute little boy who was still grinning at me. "His father works here" She says watching me.

"He seems to like you, he's never smiled like that at anyone but his dad" She says laughing. "And his mother?" I ask. She shrugs, "I've never met her, so I don't think she's a part of his life" She says sadly.

"Well that's a shame. Who wouldn't want this little cutie?" I ask waving at little Fabian. He wiggles his little fist back at me and I laugh.

"I'm Addison by the way, but you can call me Addie" I say holding out my hand. She smiles at me and shakes my hand, "Evelyn. But call me Eve" She says. "Pretty name" I say.

"Yours too. Addie, I like it" She says laughing. The door to the elevator dings and says we were on the 17th floor. I step out and run into a hard wall.

I step back, realizing it wasn't a wall but a very muscular chest. "Oops, sorry" I say looking up into bright blue eyes. He smiles at me, "No it wasn't your fault, I do apologize Miss..." He trails off.

"Addison. Addison Carter" I reply smiling. "Oh yes, you are being interviewed to be my personal assistant, correct?" He asks with an Italian accent.

Yum.

Wait...His personal assistant? This is Mr. De Luca? How did I not know that?

"You'll have to excuse me, I didn't know that it is your personal assistant I was applying for" I reply, feeling slightly embarrassed.

"That's okay. Every other woman seems to know, so you'll be coming in with an edge. Indifference" He says smiling at me. He looks away from me towards Evelyn. "Eve, are you two okay?" He asks concerned.

She laughs, "All good. Addie helped me pry the wheel from the elevators grasp" We both laugh and I notice he is staring intently at my face.

I felt something tap my leg and I looked down. Fabian was sitting next to my seat and tapping a small toy on my leg. He must've crawled over to me from the blanket that Evelyn was playing with him on. He was so cute.

He sat up and reached up his arms at me, he wanted me to pick him up. "Can I pick him up?" I asked, looking up at Mr De Luca, whose first name was still unknown to me.

He nodded at me watching me carefully. I reached down and gently picked Fabian up. I held him in my arms, as he tried to hand me his toy.

I opened my hand and he put the small toy in my palm. He then looked up at me and gave me a toothy grin. I laughed at him. He was just too adorable.

He leaned his head on my chest and looked over at his father, waving his arms. I looked up at Mr De Luca and he was staring at Fabian, elbows propped up and his chin resting on his hands.

He smiled at Fabian and then glanced at me. He quickly looked back down at my résumé, noticing I was watching him.

He closed my résumé and put his folder back in the draw. Was that good or bad? He slid my résumé across the table to me, and I picked it up and put it back in my bag.
