Norah's leg couldn't move yet. She had to lie flat or have the head of the bed raised to a half-reclining position.
She pressed the button to raise the head of the bed and whispered to Estelle, "Uncle Gonzalez was here just now. He said a lot of weird things and even claimed he was the one who hit me!"
Estelle asked, "Do you have any impression at all?"
Norah thought for a moment, and her head began to throb. She shook her head. "I really can't remember how I got hit!"
Estelle smiled softly. "If you can't remember, don't force it. You haven't fully recovered yet, so don't stress yourself out."
Norah looked at Estelle with a sweet, meaningful smile. "Estelle, my mom left. It's just the two of us now!"
Estelle raised an eyebrow. "And?"
Norah's smile grew even more adorable. "Let's eat something delicious!"
She wanted boba tea, fried chicken wings, and ice cream.
Estelle laughed. "Sure!"
Norah was so happy she wanted to bounce out of bed, run a few laps, and give Estelle a big hug.
Of course, she could only lie obediently in bed and express her joy with her eyes.
Before ordering takeout, Estelle consulted the doctor on what Norah could and couldn't eat, strictly following his advice when picking snacks.
...
Norah had forgotten Xavier. The memories of him in her mind had turned into a blurry blank space. Even Damian and the other people closely associated with Xavier had been erased from her mind.
Occasionally, in a fleeting moment, she would think of "Uncle Gonzalez" sitting by her bed talking to her, but thinking of him brought a strange, hollow ache in her chest and made her head throb.
She instinctively made herself ignore it and stopped thinking about him.
