Gonzalez let out a dark, cynical laugh. Without another word, he turned on his heel and stormed out of the room.
Sunday.
After lunch, Henson Lamont knocked on Norah's bedroom door. He only pushed it open after hearing her muffled response.
"I'm heading out to play soccer with some friends. You wanna tag along?" he asked.
Norah was currently curled up on her sofa, binging a TV show and mindlessly snacking. She shook her head. "No thanks. It's not like I can play anyway."
She still wasn't cleared for any strenuous physical activity, which meant she'd just be stuck on the sidelines.
"It's an outdoor field, great weather. Way better than rotting on the couch watching this garbage," Henson teased.
She refused to budge. "Why would I want to bake in the sun just to watch you kick a ball? Besides, I'm heading back to The Eden Apartments soon."
Henson looked surprised. "You're leaving this afternoon? Don't you work tomorrow?"
She kept her expression completely neutral. "If I stay here, I have to wake up early for the commute. At the apartment, I get an extra hour of sleep."
He spun his soccer ball in his hands, frowning. "Is waking up an hour early really that tragic?"
Setting her phone down, a smug glint appeared in her eyes. "Once you get used to rolling out of bed at eight, you realize exactly how miserable seven a.m. truly is."
Henson scoffed at her sheer laziness. "I'm out of here."
Norah waved him off. "See you next week. Try not to miss me too much!"
He responded by walking out, giving her a dismissive wave from behind.

An hour later, Lana brought in a freshly packed suitcase. "Norah, the weather forecast says it's going to cool down a bit next week. I've packed some warmer layers for you."
