By the time they arrived back at The Eden Apartments, night had fallen. Gonzalez was in the kitchen preparing dinner while Norah lounged in the living room, playing with Circe.

Feeling a pang of hunger, Norah wandered into the kitchen to ask if the food was ready.

Gonzalez handed her a small box of cookies. "Eat these for now."

"When did you buy these?" Norah asked, her eyes lighting up. She tore open the packaging, delighted to find the cookies shaped like tiny bones.

She popped two into her mouth. They weren't overly sweet, carrying a crisp texture and a faint hint of mint.

"These are so good!" she mumbled, tossing a few more into her mouth. Holding one up to tease Circe, she glanced at Gonzalez. "Can cats eat these?"

Gonzalez turned around and nodded. "They're meant for her."

Norah froze.

She immediately examined the packaging. Sure enough, printed in small black letters right across the center of the cartoon box was: "Pet Snack - Cat Cookies."

"Gonzalez!" Norah glared at him, looking like a furious little leopard.

He was actually getting a kick out of feeding her cat food!

Gonzalez chuckled. "Relax. Those cookies are a lot healthier than the junk food you usually eat."

Refusing to listen to his excuses, Norah spun on her heel and stormed back to the living room.

By the time Gonzalez finished cooking and brought the food out, he found Norah sitting on the sofa. She was happily eating a cookie herself, then feeding one to Circe, thoroughly enjoying the snack.

When she caught him staring, she didn't even blush. She just kept chewing with a defiant crunch.

After dinner, they began their tutoring session. It went on until almost ten o'clock when Gonzalez's phone rang. He stepped away to take the call.

It was Spencer Manning, calling to discuss the vetting process for the new partner replacing KN Group.
