He shook his head lightly. His eyes were unwavering, brimming with unshakable confidence.

“I appreciate the Dragon Emperor’s goodwill, but I still refuse to join the Martial Alliance.

“I know exactly what kind of position I’m in right now. I know how the great powers and the underworld elites see me. But so what?

“There will always be dangers in this world. If I have to cling to others and hide behind their protection because of that, then I’m no different from anyone else.”

He took a step forward. Yellow sand filled the sky, stretching his shadow long acros ground. The expressions of Ophelia and the others shifted. For a split second, it felt as if Leander had grown into a towering giant nearly ten feet tall, a majestic silhouette flashing before their eyes.
