---- Aurora's POV ----
I met Mrs. Kala in the maids quarters, and she escorted me up until the fourth floor of the mansion.
"Up here only the alphas bedroom is occupied. Both the beta, gamma and elders reside on the third floor.
The second floor is only for guests and the offices. And you already know the first floor." Mrs. Kala explained as I followed behind her trying to remember every turn we took.
"Here we are dearie. This is your room." She said as she stood before a door.
"The alphas bedroom is the one down the hall." She said pointing to the lonely door that stood at the end of the hall.
"Here are your keys. Beta Barone already left your luggage in there. Just go ahead and get settled in. I'll come looking for you in a bit for lunch." She said.
"Um. I'm not really hungry Mrs. Kala. I'll just unpack and lay down for a while." I said to the older lady.
"You sure honey? You didn't eat breakfast either, did you?" She said a bit concerned.
"Yes ma'am." I replied giving her a smile to assure her that I was indeed all right.
"Very well. I know you are overwhelmed about all of this, so I'll let you rest. But I'll be looking for you for dinner, okay?" She said to me.
I somehow felt that I couldn't argue with her about not eating dinner, so I sighed and nodded.
"Set your room however you feel like and I'll come check on you later, dearie." Mrs. Kala said.
"Thank you, Mrs. Kala."
With that the older lady turned and walked out leaving me in the huge room which had a pastel painting on its walls and white trimming.
In the center was a simple queen-sized bed against the left side of the wall, with simple white sheets dressing it. There was a little chimney before it lit keeping the room warm.
To the side of the bed sat an adorable white chair. I could picture myself reading my Kindle seated there.
Right behind the chair stood a glass door that lead to a balcony.
I turned and found two doors facing the bed and between each of them was a huge fifty-five-inch TV screen that hung above the chimney. I opened the first one that was on the right and found it was enormous bathroom that consisted of a beautiful marble tub and a shower that stood to the side.
The wall was adorned with a huge mirror and the countertop was big enough to hold all the vanities of four people.I came back out and decided to inspect the second door which happened to be a walk-in closet. Each side of the wall had hangers and drawers I'm sure I'd never fill.
I walked over to the glass door and opened it walking out to the enormous balcony and I couldn't help but sigh in delight as I admired the beautiful rose yard which its aroma immediately permeated the room.
Gamma Bowen and Aspen were one of those lucky couples who the goddess connected by faith. I heard that once before the gamma met his mate, he was an uptight pompous workaholic.
One day, a couple of years ago while on patrol with the alpha, he caught a whiff of a scent that left him rendered motionless. He almost teared the village down in search of that scent until he came across this lonely she-wolf who stood wary and frightened at the outskirts of the village.
Aspen was a nomad, who became an orphan by the war. She roamed from village to village seeking refuge until she came across Iliamna, and once she placed foot here, their mate bond automatically went in action.
From then on, they have been inseparable.
"So... I came here to see if you needed help with getting settled in, but I see you're already good." She smiled as she sat down on my bed.
"Oh? Yeah. I didn't bring much to begin with." I said as I closed my closet door and headed over to sit next to her.
She stretched her hand out for me to shake.
"It's a pleasure meeting you, Aurora, right? The name is Aspen."
She was really beautiful in a completely unique way. She was just a few inches taller than me with chocolate color skin and bright green eyes. Her hair was a tall curly red Afro which she had adorned with a green bandanna. She was very voluptuous for her small frame, making me aware of my small chest. I took her hand and shook it giving her the best smile I could utter.
"Nice meeting you Aspen."
