---- Wolfgang's POV ----
I sat through the meeting with alpha Wilhelm sorting out how are we going to deploy our warriors, but I couldn't concentrate. My mind was on Aurora, mostly on her shift.
Why was her shift that way? I looked into my father's library, but I couldn't find anything about it. I'm sure I've read something about it when I was younger and being prepared to take over the role as future Alpha.
That white fur and those eyes...
"Alpha Wolfgang?" I was brought out of my thoughts by Remus.
"Huh? What?" I looked around the table not really remembering what we were talking about.
"Alpha Gagliardi. Are you feeling all right? You've been spacing out a lot during our meeting." Spoke Wilhelm's beta.
"Forgive me. Carry on." I said trying to put my mind off of the omega she-wolf who has been crowding my every waking thought.
An hour and a half later thankfully the meeting was over, and I was heading downstairs to get something on my stomach.
"We should invite our mate to eat with us." Cronnos said in my mind earning a growl from me.
"Not happening." I answered back as I continued down the hall to the dining area.
"Listen to me you lil' fuck. I want my mate by my side and you're not gonna ruin that. Now go and look for her. You brought her to this place where she knows no one else except Kala. She must be anxious. This is the perfect time for you to correct your childish behavior and make it up to her." The flea bag of a wolf said in my mind.
I opted to ignore his constant rant as I walked through the hall leading to the dining area when something, or might I say someone caught my attention. It was Aurora who was out in mother's rose garden smelling them. I stood there like some love struck loser looking at his crush from a distance, afraid of being rejected by her.
As if she could ever reject me.
I kept looking at her and saw her get startled over something. She quickly rose and I saw her bow her head. That's when Max came into view walking over towards her. Anger flared inside me. Why the fuck were the two of them out there alone at this hour.
I quickly walked out there to catch the last part of their conversation.
"...You're a total hottie." I heard my beta tell my mate making me get even more pissed. "You're already eighteen, right? The guy who turns out to be your mate will be one lucky bastard."
I couldn't help the sudden pang I felt on my chest. Was a I really taking this girl for granted?
"The meeting took longer than expected Kala." I answered her. "Has miss Craton settled in properly?" I asked curious to know why was she out when I thought she'd at least be locked in her room distraught.
"I showed her around and presented her to rest of the staff. She said she was okay with the room but felt it was too big for her. Poor child. Must felt like a fish out of water. Hasn't even eaten anything all day. She came down a couple of hours ago asking for the backyard to go for a run and hasn't come back yet." The older woman said making my stomach churn and causing me to lose appetite.
"What do you mean she hasn't eaten all day Kala?" I asked the older woman.
"Well, when I went for her this morning she had just gotten up and with all the crying and the fact that you urged me to come with her as quick as possible, she didn't get the chance to get breakfast. And by the time I showed her what would be her room, she said she wasn't hungry, so I didn't insist on her having lunch. Poor thing. She must be overwhelmed about all this." Kala said as her eyebrows knitted together in anguish.
"You see? Just as I said. She needs to be comforted, idiot." The old bag of fleas grumbled in my mind.
I immediately stood from the table, losing all appetite.
"Kala, go look for miss Craton and make sure she eats something. I won't have her fainting while on duty tomorrow on her first day." I ordered the older woman as I headed out the dining hall but stopped when I remembered her asking Max about having some of my mother's roses.
"Have someone pick a couple of the roses from the yard and place them in miss Craton's room." I said before exiting the room and heading to my office, not before noticing the shock on my head maids face followed by a little smirk.
"Great. Now not only Max and Remus will be on my back about me being interested on Aurora. Kala surely will have something to say about it as well."
